He is in like 5-8 games a season thats not enough to start for napoli imo, if he was taller and helped on set pieces i wouldnt mind. I feel like he lives on the hype around the time we signed him. More importantly he isnt the future for Napoli, the sooner rog or zielinski can become regulars the better - they are better players.
I agree when we first got him but he hasnt progressed like I tought he would, he gets starts because of his experience.
Did you not watch us last year in CL when we went with Hamsik-Zielinski in the midfield? We got walked on in the midfield. Allan is better in the midfield for CL games and bigger games.
Agreed but Allan still needs to do better overall. He doesnt even win that many balls given his type. I think Rog can be better if he gets regular playing time.
You mean against Real Madrid? Becuase thats the only game I remember we lost of note where we were over run. I cant imagine if Allan was out there, he is awful in open space, too slow
I agree, but don't forget that there's probably not a single team in existence these days that wouldn't be utterly vanquished by Real Madrid. Too many people act like Real Madrid is actually not the team that you would expect to ride you like a whore with gonorrhea. I can still distinctly remember thinking how we had a solid chance against any of the potential teams in the CHL, even Juve, but not against Real Madrid. Against them I still thought we had a chance, but not a solid one. Last year I trusted only Juve in terms of not being overrun by Real Madrid...
Yeah TBH i think had we gone against anyone but Real, we would have advanced in the Champions League.
BS . Dont make Real Madrid out to be better than they actually are they should have been knocked out by Munich but the ref clearly had other ideas. They have amazing depth but not anywhere near one of the best teams of all time like many people seem to think. Real Madrid were bad against us, allowed us a lot of open space and made many mistakes because they underrated us, but we couldnt do shit to capitalize on it. On the top level we are too vulnerable (aka laughingly shit) on set pieces & in the air in general - top teams will punish any weakness (even fukn juve did it to us).
I think that first game Napoli had a ton of nerves, and we basically got ouplayed in the air. The second game we had a chance to actually win the damn thing until those corners from Ramos, set pieces will kill this team in European competition, it's not because we get over run in the midfield.
Today I expect to see more energy emanating from our players than you can witness when seeing a newbie junkie take his first monstrous hit of methamphetamine. Who's with me?
I just hope Jorginho and Allan are up to being competent when it comes to defense or this could be an ugly night.
I think honestly Sarri should start playing maksimovic at right back as he'd be useful in the air. For this weekend though, Allan could play right back instead of Maggio lol
Correct me if Im wrong but I thought was hearing un giorno all'imporvviso in Nice Edit: definitely not but best believe there are Neapolitans there posing as Nice fans
I created a 2nd leg thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/uefa-clq-ogc-nice-vs-ssc-napoli-allianz-riviera-2nd-leg.2068452/
What about Juventus? Real Madrid 3-1 Napoli, Napoli 1-3 Real Madrid Juventus 3-0 Barcelona, Barcelona 0-0 Juventus Monaco 0-2 Juventus, Juventus 2-1 Monaco Juventus 3-1 Napoli, Napoli 3-2 Juventus Napoli 1-1 Juventus Napoli 0-2 Atalanta Atalanta 2-2 Juventus
And why not Roma-Juventus 3-1 Roma-Napoli 1-2 Real Madrid-Juventus 4-1 Fiorentina-Juventus 2-1 Napoli Fiorentina 4-1 And others? Do you want to enforce your theory by skipping facts that don't match it? that's not very correct...
Once Juve had the 9 point lead in the league following the Barca CL tie, they dropped points to Atalanta and Roma. Even in the Copa Italia 2nd leg in Naples, the tie was effectively over once Juve went up 2-1. It was pretty clear that Juve were focused on the CL by April. This isn't to take away from Napoli who are a very good if not top side, but context matters. Juve finished 5 points ahead of Roma, yet I don't think anyone truly believes that their was a proper title race last year.
