I would suspect that the contrast between Barca's away legs and their home legs is greater than any other team regularly partaking in CL knockout stages over the past 10 years. I mean, even during the Pep era we rarely won the away leg. I think it has something to do with the crappy away kits we always wear.
J.M. Puyal of Catalunya Radio always gives me chills with his goal calls. http://www.ccma.cat/catradio/alacar...p/la-veu-de-joaquim-maria-puyal/audio/992858/
Watching Cesc play those dangerous through balls I was wondering why we let him go...then his defending on Messi's goal reminded me why.
Totally not his fault that goal. Once Iniesta won the 50/50 ball Chelsea's only hope was that Messi missed on his shot. Paolo Maldini playing in front of Yashin wouldn't have had a chance either.
They have the ability to press a bit higher well. Honestly I don't know why they defended so deep again. They could have been even more trouble had they pressed higher.
At some point, I suppose, but only if they don't actually score and only after 65-70 minutes. IOW if it goes alot different than today and 2012.
Nah, than MAtS just kicks the ball over their heads and its a 50/50 chance that we have a 4-on-4 or 3-on-3 break. We've burned teams in La Liga like that recently. Conte has done his homework.
If you'd told me we'd get a goal from Iniesta's speedy sprinting ability over 20 yards to intercept a pass across Chelsea's box, I would've laughed. GRAN CAPITÁN
Nine years ago Messi assisted Iniesta for a key late equalizer at Stamford Bridge that instantly became club lore. Today Andrés returned the favor.
Hmm.. Messi assisted Iniesta goal in 2012, but Barca conceided another goal and Messi missed the PK. If they didnt conceided, that would be winning assist too.
Yep. Any team that defends that well will give Barca and Messi all sorts of trouble. He had a nice run in the first half and the cross to Paulinho but struggled to find space. Luckily was clutch with the one chance he had ... and he actually hit the ball and not the other way around
For the second-leg we need to go back to taking short corners. Barca corner-kicks were one of Chelsea's biggest weapons in this match. Sort of led to their goal too (Rakitic delivered another dreadful corner kick right into Courtois' hands, and Barca's next kick of the ball was at the center-circle ). Chelsea's goal also came from a short-corner of theirs.
