I agree that this crop of U-17 players look really good. However, I would not throw them all into the fire of the WNT. Maybe work them into the U-20's and see how they do. Sanchez has impressed on both the U-17's and the U-20's, but I think she and Pugh are the rare exceptions and not the norm. Having too many youngsters on the full WNT can negatively affect the team.

Thanks for posting the matches. I also watched all the La Manga games you posted. Are you going to post the 2 remaining games for the U17s? Again, thanks a million.

    Th. [Haiti - Canada]

~07' 0-0 Canada pass to #? facing away at box top mid-right, one-touch flick over her right shoulder(?) to Huitema cutting uncontested through box arc top to 12m 1/3 right. Quick shot, GK #1 Kirly Theus kick-save at 6-top right post, over right 90. Haiti survive that ck.

08' 0-0 Canada cross from ~arc top box right, two Canadians back-cut the high trap line on the left. Ball bounces up at 9m 1/3 left, Huitema lunge-heads but gets a micro-touch, Theus topples forward to catch it.

11' 0-0 Mostly Canada pressure and constant surges into box.

12' 0-0 Haiti RW drives 1-v-2 at circle top right touch, but then 1-v-4(?) and lost. Haiti lack the team gas to synchronize their movements. Female cc (Kyndra de St. Aubin?): "there's not a whole lot of support in the attack right now for Haiti"

14' 0-0 Canada surge to arc top, Huitema passes to 14m mid-left for #10 Ibrahim through box top left. #3 Emeline Charles slides and hooks ball away, Ibrahim just late and steps on Charles's trailing right foot/ankle. Play continues, Charles stays down, writhing.

15' 0-0 Stoppage, trainer, Charles limps into touch. Soon returns?

20' 0-0 Canada cross from ~box top right to 6-top right post, Theus comes out and double-punches away. Haiti quick longball past circle top wide left, #9 Lovelie Pierre drives 1-v-1 on #2 Emma Regan -- but really a 1-v-4. Regan interposes on the run at arc top box left, Pierre swim-move throws Regan down, foul.

21' 0-0 Haiti (#10 Nerlia Mondesir?) flying slide-tackle try at circle back box right, thrusts leading foot through wicket past ball and the Canadian steps on the toes. More pain, another brief stoppage; she gets pulled to feet and resumes. Haiti need steel-toed cleats ...

25' 0-0 Canada float two mooncrosses from box right to left post, both fizzle.

26' 0-0 Haiti hoof north to #10 Mondesir at 25m box right, 1-v-2. Mondesir puts on a clinic of power dribbling: drives hard to 5m wide right until double-teamed, dragback into backshield and dribbles away while shielding, spins ccw and beats them both  Contested dribble through 3m box right to endline mid-right, balltop dragback into backshield -- and finally bumped into endzone. Ref gives gk off Mondesir :p That's Haiti in a microcosm -- just imagine what they'll be like with a roster of 15 players who all do that

31' 0-0 Canada chase to 8m wide left, Haiti slide-tackle through the wicket again -- this time it's the Canadian who holds a shin and winces. No card, Canada fk, first one muffed (early whistle?) and retaken.

33' 0-0 Canada fk at 8m wide left, low through 6-top left but no cutters could reach it.

39' 0-0 Mondesir steals(?) in center circle, looks up and sees GK Proulx off her line -- tries a driven power lob from circle top right :p -- and it glances off right 90 and over  as Proulx hopped but saw it just-high.

40' 0-0 Stratigakis passes from arc top to 12m 6-left for #10 Ibrahim running on wide-open through box top left, one-touch right instep has no power, bends gently to Theus at goalline center. Canada are absolutely peppering Haiti's goal with soft, gentle rollers right at Theus

43' 0-0 Canada cross drops to 13m 2/5 left, #10 Ibrahim swings chest-high boot as #19 Roseline Eloissaint lunges head down to ball -- a bad combo. Eloissaint goes down, yellow card on Ibrahim. Eloissaint meets trainer against endboards, pours (ice?) water on head, trots toward midfield to re-enter. +2'.

45+1' (of +2') 0-0 Canada fk at circle top, to 8m left post, hop-header contested and goes leftward out of box.

45+2' (of +2') 0-0 Haiti right throw-in at own arc top, heaved to midfield but directly to Canada.

45+2' (of +2') 0-0 Canada right throw-in at box top, they settle and ping around. Swing to mid-left, square tap to 22m center, soft tap to arc top -- Haiti disrupt and hoof to midfield.

    HT 0-0.

46' 0-0 Fox Soccer subs in Angela Hucles for Kyndra de St. Aubin??
46' 0-0 Canada subs in (1 of 3) #15 Lauren Raimondo for #10 Anyssa Ibrahim.

46' 0-0 #6 Naphtalie Northe challenges too exuberately between #12 Vital Kats's wicket at circle center, hooks her down. Foul, yellow card on Northe.

49' 0-0 Midfield ping duel. Canada collect and drive alone to circle top left -- sprawls face-first no contact, turnover  Haiti counter up wide right, pass to Mondesir 1-v-1 through box top right. #16 Cathro pokes ball away, Mondesir unbalances and sprawls face-first -- no call.

50' 0-0 Canada cross from arc top mid-right, over everybody and hooks wide left.

50' 0-0 Haiti to arc top, simple pass to #7 Melissa Dacius at ~15m mid-right. One drag right, right foot shot to 1/3 left, Proulx catches face-high.

51' 0-0 #12 Kats taps to arc left, left foot shot just high.
52' 0-0 #8 Stratigakis shoots from arc top mid-left, way high.

53' 0-0 Stratigakis hoofs from midfield wide right. Haiti CB comes back from own box top to spot but confused by the bend, lets ball bounce untouched behind her. #9 Huitema runs on alone through arc left to 12m, one-touch volley high. Canada are dominating until they have to shoot ...

55' 0-1 Canada left ck(?), cleared through box top. #8 Stratigakis collects at 24m center going right, dragback beats 1 too close as she goes left. Right outstep flick pierces the line caught watching, springs #_ unmarked at 12m mid-left. She chases to 1m 6-left, low cross to 4m left post for #_. GK Theus kick-save, gets her foot stepped-upon -- somehow, this is Haiti. Soft rebound trickles out to 6m 1/4 left, #15 Lauren Raimondo pounces from 8m and half-volleys past everybody into 1/4 left.

60' 0-2 Canada pass to #_ at box top mid-left, she cuts backward to arc top left. Shot across body deflects off defender's foot, pops up and drops to 9m 1/4 left. #12 Vital Kats, chasing up centerline, is onside off the deflection, pokes off Theus's kick-save. High pop-up drops to goalline and bounces in. #15 Raimondo, with 1 on her back and unable to stop self from running into goal, gets a 2nd touch on or just over goalline -- there's that weird case again :p

69' 0-2 #12 Kats semi-slides to poke ball at 22m arc left, #3 Emeline Charles another poorly-judged power-lunge sliding tackle -- and she gets the worst of it. Both stay down, Kats sits up, Charles thrashing. Stoppage, stretcher comes out but waved off. Trainer helps Charles limp heavily toward near touch. I can't fault Haiti because this is just the level of their program -- obviously it's not working, but they don't have a decade to gain finesse.

72' 0-2 Canada fk at 22m arc left, driven to right post low, Theus dives and mostly-smothers it to a trickle, picks it up.

73' 0-2 Canada high longball to ~spot, Raimondo runs on for a chip-try but puts it over.

73' 0-3 Canada fast pass down mid-left sends #12 Kats to 12m. Tap through two to 4m 6-left, she chases both, squeezes self into their gap, falling right outstep flick across 4m eludes everybody. #15 Shana Flynn unmarked through 6-top right, blasts right instep volley into left side netting.

75' 0-4 Swift counter breaks Haiti's dispirited high line. Kats chases to box top arc left, right outstep flick to 5m mid-right, #15 Flynn settles unmarked. Simple square pass to 7m center for #15 Raimondo unmarked, one-touch shot into back left low.

80' 1-4 Haiti moonball from ~circle top mid-left, drops to 14m centerline. #10 Nerilia Mondesir beats her defender through arc left, chases to centerline. Proulx fooled into projecting the path of the bounce, Mondesir low half-volley sole-block dumps ball past her, to 6-top right. Mondesir chases, blasts right foot golazo into right 90. Well, Canada have no defender who matches up with Mondesir.

82' 1-4 Heavy foul on #9 Huitema at arc top left touch. Yellow card on #4 Martine Olivier.

85' 1-4 Same stoppage, Huitema still just inside field, sitting up but dazed. Haiti upset and milling too closely, dead ball yellow card on #2 Nandie Deshommes. Trainers indicate sub, put Huitema into protocol?

86' 1-4 Canada subs in (2 of 3) #11 Camila Gómez for #9 Jordyn Huitema.

89' 2-4 Haiti longball up centerline, #10 Mondesir toasts both CBs, 2m+ ahead of them to 14m. One-touch right foottop flick beats Proulx frozen, into back right low. +3'.

90+3' (of +3') 2-4 #11 Gómez chases a pass at circle top left touch, #4 Olivier beaten by a poor angle, hard left shoulder challenge from the right flank sends Gómez into sideboards, clutching a knee. 2nd yellow = red card on #4 Martine Olivier.

FT 2-4. Canada qualifies convincingly, except for those gaping leaks. Haiti takes a huge leap forward, from out of the whodat tier to dark-horse contender, e.g. past Costa Rica . Haiti's talent could draw some serious interest from US colleges.

Ch. [Mexico - USA] Numerous changes on both sides. Kyndra returns :D

02' 0-0 USA early high pressure keeps ball in Mexico's 1/3. Steal at 25m box right, quick pass to Kuhlmann through box top mid-right to 13m. Cross toward 9m left post too high for Spaanstra near centerline, bounces away.

05' 0-0 USA high cross drops toward Spaanstra at 7m wide left, sandwiched 1-v-2 but Mexico hug her around the waist too much. Foul.

05' 0-0 USA fk at 7m wide left, #10 Sánchez cross/shot bends on-frame? Cleared away, bounces back to her. 2nd shot from ~box top wide left, bends wide right and high.

07' 0-0 USA long pass to Sánchez at arc top wide left. Sánchez touches to a 1-v-2 at 12m box left, stop-and-go beats RB #4 Kimberly Rodríguez in a sit-down poke. Sánchez gets to 2m 6-left, right instep chip shot up to face-high, #12 Miriam Aguirre blocks ball up and over.

08' 0-0 USA left ck, to 14m right post, Kuhlmann pops a header upward. Mexico clear, break past circle top. #19 Wiesner fouls #9 Espinosa.

09' 0-0 Mexico fk from ~22m arc right, to 7m 1/4 left. #9 Espinoza cuts in and outjumps 1, grazing micro-header freezes #1 Ivory -- beats her dive rightward, off left post low, bounces out to 3m 4-left. #11 Jacqueline Ovalle(?) thigh or knee volley across empty mouth, wide right

14' 0-0 #7 Dayana Cazares chases up right touch to 10m, #19 Wiesner slide-blocks cross into near touch.

15' 0-0 USA ping in the back, Mexico hold their press at circle top.

16' 0-0 USA patient short-ping, stolen at midfield wide left. Mexico facing away, backheel into runner's stride -- but her 1st pass is bad, to #18 Howell's head. USA pass through box top arc left for Sánchez outflanking the line -- she clangs ball to 6-top left, continues around forehand and tries soft right toe-poke, Aguirre blocks it away. Whoops.

22' 0-0 Howell flicks to Spaanstra at 27m mid-left. Spaanstra chases down her own clang, bursts past box top left past 1 and down wide left to box left foot. Cross on the run to 7m 1/4 left, #4 Rodríguez heads sideways and Mexico hoof it up (their) right touch.

23' 0-0 Pinto jukes past #20 Maricarmen Reyes at circle top, tripped flat. Foul. USA fk to just wide of left post, Aguirre catches.

23' 0-0 Kuhlmann shoots just wide left.

24' 0-0 USA chip from midfield to 24m mid-left, Sánchez jumping back-head flick to box top arc left for Kuhlmann. Ball backspins behind her run, she twists back and ball bounces up into her trailing left arm. Offside anyways :p

27' 0-0 #9 Espinosa(?) steals at 30m arc right, instant turn-and-shoot through the high back line, bounces to Ivory. Thought she was closer?

30' 0-0 Mexico diagonal pass through center circle, under the hopping ref :p to #7 Cazares 1-v-1 on #18 Howell past box top right. Howell gives her zero space to 1m endline, Cazares does a ball-stop, Howell anticipates it and pokes ball through her wicket. Cazares retreats to 5m near touch, Howell lunges and pokes ball out.

31' 0-0 LB #11 Ovalle charges through a bouncing ball as #15 Wesley jumps and stretches awkwardly across Ovalle's run -- Ovalle's right thigh taps Wesley's left hamstring, unbalances her momentum, Wesley lands with left knee bending wrong way like an ostrich, faceplants in pain and stays down. Mexico attack to 5m wide left, two crosses headed around but cleared. Stoppage.

33' 0-0 Stretcher comes out, waved off. Wesley gingerly walks into far touch, "only" hyperextended?

35' 0-0 USA resume with 10. Welsey returns? #11 Ovalle spins cw at 10m mid-left through 6-left foot, working her 1 defender (could be Wesley herself). CB(?) #4 Girma comes across and tools Ovalle's shins and over.

37' 0-0 USA pass from the left to Kuhlmann at arc top center, she turns and blasts right foot rising, off crossbar 1/6 left and bounces straight out.

38' 0-0 Sánchez darts through box top arc left, into a 1-v-3 -- hops over #20 M.Reyes, squeezes between #3 Ramírez and #4 Rodríguez, to 5m 5-left -- stumbles and ball rolls to Aguirre at left post.

43' 0-1 USA dump ball from circle top to arc top right, bounces into box. #10 Ashley Sánchez chases, #3 Alessandra Ramírez shields through arc right to 12m right post and hop-heads rightward -- but too close, only to 10m 6-right! Sánchez bends her run rightward, one-touch soft volley gently lobs Aguirre, drops into left side netting low. That's twice :notworthy:

45+2' (of +2') 0-1 #7 Cazares touches aggressively down wide right to 15m, chases but her inside-out momentum takes her on an arc. #19 Wiesner runs the straight line, wins race and pokes ball out.

    HT 0-1.

48' 0-1 LB #19 Wiesner drives down wide left to 9m, 1-v-2 but freezes both with a stop-and-go, reaches endline box left. Cross bends away to 5m right post, between Kuhlmann and #17 Canniff both unmarked -- they mark each other, let ball bounce away. Canniff collects, cutback pass to 9m center misses, Mexico clears.

49' 0-1 #11 Ovalle crosses from box top wide left to 12m 1/3 left, #11 Izzy Rodriguez heads away.

50' 0-1 Mexico sustain possession in our 1/3, USA content to play lanes and defend. Ovalle spins away past #7 Spaanstra up against her back at 22m left touch, quick cross bends to 14m left post and bounces under a hopping 1-v-1 -- untouched?? 2nd defender flicks clear.

51' 0-1 Mexico more possession, but #11 Ovalle fouls with a left armbar to the lumbar spine, for pushing off.

53' 0-1 Pinto longball from circle right up wide left, Sánchez chases and steals from the defender. Sánchez dribbles to arc top mid-left, pings to Kuhlmann standing at box top right post. Standing right instep placement volley toward left post, Aguirre dives and blocks it wide and over.

54' 0-1 USA left ck, drops over Kuhlmann at 13m right post, bounces behind her. #18 Howell drives to 5m mid-right, sliding right foot shot sails behind goal.

54' 0-1 #11 Ovalle takes #7 Spaanstra down to 5m wide left, cross deflects over. Mexico need more Ovalles, she's doing it all for them.

55' 0-1 Mexico left ck, high to 5m 6-right -- but #14 Reyna Reyes lunges into traffic and pushes #18 Howell down flat. F oul.

56' 0-1 Mexico subs in (1 of 3) #17 Luisa Delgado for #20 Maricarmen Reyes.

57' 0-1 USA right ck into the scrum, header pops just over bar 1/4 left. Locally, I have thunder overhead, and the lights just blinked :coffee:

59' 0-1 Now it's a deluge's pitter-patter, like hailstones. Now it's a LOUD drumbeat, like golf balls being unloaded from a dump truck. Mexico clear, hold in our 1/3 :D Bad pass from circle top left misses #14 Reyes, into near touch.

61' 0-1 Mexico diagonal pass for Ovalle but too far inside, rolls past 5m mid-left as USA shield 2-v-1. Ovalle harasses #16 Karina Rodríguez, she must gather ball centerward before it rolls out. Spins back to endline to shield Ovalle, who tugs her down. Foul.

62' 0-1 USA pass through Mexico's line, Kuhlmann in a 2-v-3 chase to 6m mid-right, with Sánchez(?) running centerline. Kuhlmann tries the square pass through legs, her defender read that and intercepts with a perfect lunge-block.

63' 0-1 Mexico long pass bounces through box top to 12m left post, Mexico in a tight 1-v-1 from arc top right, leans shoulders past. #4 Girma chest-bumps her into unbalancing forward, turns and clears -- no call.

65' 0-1 USA subs in (2 of 3) #20 Frankie Tagliaferri for #17 Jordan Canniff.

68' 0-1 Sánchez receives at arc top right, bursts past 1. Ball poked away to 5m 1/3 right, Sánchez races Aguirre coming out -- both slide, they tie, ball bounces off Aguirre's hands/chest and out past spot.

69' 1-1 Mexico cross from the right to #10 Montseratt Hernández facing away at arc tangent right. Hacky-sack tap to self, spin cw and 2nd touch is a pass to #11 Jacqueline Ovalle at 19m mid-left. One touch to settle ball in front of her at 15m mid-left, one stride and left-instep shot bends away from #1 Ivory's dive, into right side netting just behind right post. Ovalle is a better shooter than passer because she has nobody to pass to :D
