Ya it's u21 when qualifying starts 2 years ago. That's why there is some players who are 23 and play in the tournament
Basically, at the start of qualifying, that's the age where they count it. So if they're compliant under the U-21 rules during the start of qualifying, they can play in the tournament even if they're not actually under 21 or 21 years of age. I'm pretty sure half of Spain's squad that beat the Italian squad in the final was also of similar age.
Really looking forward to this tournament, one my favourites. Like the look of the squad, quite solid throughout, Rugani and Romagnoli in defense, Cataldi-Benassi-Sturaro in midfield and Berardi and Belotti up front. Seems like a younger squad to me, plenty of quality in the class of 94'. Looking back to the final in 2013, the team did well to get to the final but that Spain team was something else on paper. While I don't see our attack being as strong Insigne, Immobile, Gabbiadini, Borini, Destro and Florenzi was a very strong and deep collection of attackers. But Rugani is by far better than Caldirola IMO, as is much of the defense. There's no one in midfield at Verratti's level but a solid collection nonetheless. Spain isn't around this time either, Germany are strong as are England and Portugal supposedly. We outplayed Germany in a friendly in March so we know we can beat them.
Italy 1 Bardi(GK) 2 Sabelli 5 Rugani 13 Bianchetti(C) 22 Zappacosta 7 Viviani 8 Sturaro 16 Baselli 18 Battocchio 9 Belotti 10 Berardi
pretty much the same, but i havent been impressed tbh. it all looks a bit slow and disorientated. passes overhit or going the wrong way. they defo havent got into gear yet
Again Bianchetti impresses at centre back, hard to believe he cant get a chance in Serie A. Battocchio seems to be out of sync with the rest of the team. the final ball just wont fall right but all in all we are on top
John Guidetti. Thought he had an interesting name. Paternal grandfather was Italian, and grandmother was Swede/Brazilian. Owned by ManC.
