I will say the second division Adana derby reminded me of being caught in the middle of political unrest and riots.

I had no idea what was going on with this club until I heard a long story on them on BBC radio earlier this week. They couldn't find any actual fans of the team that would talk to them for the story, and an interviewed sports economist estimated that they were getting at least $75 million/year off the books from sketchy government money and Erdogan cronies. Seems like a risky career move for Boyd as this team seems like they could completely disintegrate if Erdogan's political fortunes shift or he decides propping them up doesn't serve his interests anymore.
Announced average attendance this season was a shade over 4,000, good for 17th (of 18) in the league. You have a link to that BBC story? I'd be interested in listening.
