Well, called in at the right time by Berhalter. Good winger. Scores goals. Two-footed. Speed. Let’s all take a step back and be excited.
prior integration with the team is the most overrated factor in callups, imo. should be irrelevant, imo....especially considering how the team actually plays.
Great news! The mere fact that USSF reported the switch should tell you Berhalter has had direct contact with Boyd. I confess, I haven’t seen a full 90 of Boyd but the gobs of extended highlights ceretainly has me intrigued about his inclusion. Will it be this summer? That’s the million dollar question and I can’t wait to find out.
Was noted in the USA Men forum but his highest-rated WhoScored position is LW, at 7.62. Just one other player in the Süper Lig, Nigerian int'l Anthony Nwakaeme, has a higher LW rating, at 7.69. Serbian int'l Adem Ljajic is at 7.61. Also, here's the reaction from New Zealand's forum: https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categ...erseas/topics/tyler-boyd-i-m-american/page/59
Of the 105 appearances that Transfermarkt has position data for, 3 of them were as a center forward. Based on that, I'm gonna say no.
More from New Zealand: At that time Boyd was 20 years old and struggling to get a game for the Wellington Phoenix (he played just 62 mins in his final season). In the four years since then the All Whites have played 27 games, including 16 games which would have tied him permanently to the NZers, and they don’t have another one scheduled until November. Meanwhile the United States have played 70 games in that space of time including friendlies against the likes of Germany, England, Mexico, Netherlands, Brazil, Chile, Ghana, Portugal, Italy, France, Colombia… and even New Zealand. http://theniche-cache.com/football/...ched-his-international-allegiances-to-the-usa
