I loved the series when I was younger, but the writing slipped pretty dramatically. Or maybe I got older. Too much hair-tugging, arms crossed beneath breasts, every man not understanding women, childhood friends instantaneously not trusting each other to forward the plot, a ridiculous male-fantasy romance for the hero, and whole books of ... nothing. It was such a waste to have the idea of hero going slightly crazy ... only to have no idea how to write that.

Tons of cool ideas, though. Such a good framework. The show could be really good.

And the end of Lord of Chaos is an all-time book scene.

Yeah, first few were fresh and original. Good stuff. I quit after 5 and just read the summaries online. Guy sold out, pure and simple.
