Why not just play them both as roaming 8's? Both have a ton of hustle and have no problem getting back, just let them switch it when one goes forward the other stays back a bit. They will be our starting NT mids for a LONG time. Let them roam and feed off eachother

Neither is good enough going forward yet, so you either need to pair one with a more attacking CM or play them as dual 6/8s with a 10 in front of them.

Plus, playing Adams as the lone 6 ensures that Bradley and Trapp aren't on the field, which is addition by subtraction.

That would be ideal if they can get the correct understanding with each other. But without defined positions it can be tough. We saw how that can go wrong many times with Bradley and JJ. Big defensive gaps down the middle.

At this point, I see McKennie as the more dangerous attacking threat in and around the box, so I'd have him play advanced. Adams seems more positionally disciplined, so I'd keep him at the 6.

McKennie is no slouch moving forward.

My theory after reading this report is that Berhalter letting Adams return to Leipzig early is not a coincidence.

Very slick attacks from RB. A lot of quick combinations mixed with some pretty early balls over the top.

Adams is so clean defensively , he's either picked your pocket before you notice or he's made a surgical cut on you and you're already lost.

Any coach not playing him as a 6 or 8 is having a laugh.

The most complete midfielder we've had at this level in the last 10 years is Holden. Once Adams learns to pick his head up a little quicker and deliver a final attacking pass he will have surpassed him. His off the ball movement is intelligent and his combination passing has improved. He is playing on a very talented team. You can already see how much his mental game has improved.

I personally think he's lightyears ahead of Holden at a much younger age. Quicker, more athletic, and a better touch.

Agreed. And I really liked Holden. This transition to Leipzig has been seamless to this point. And seeing him in CL with this team next year should be fun, if they manage to hold on down the stretch.

Holden was a gifted passer and his breakup play was impeccable. Adams you can tell is learning from his teammates how to make attacking passes, soon those will be second nature and then he will be the best midfielder in the US.

Absolute beauty of a pass from adams a few minutes ago. Defensive third through ball all the way to the attacking third perfectly in stride with the striker who chips the keeper. Wow, putting on a show. Leipzig also just scored again for 5-0..

That pass for Adams wouldn't be there in Berhalter's system.

You won't see any prettier pass than that.

If RB get any better Bayern is going to have to panty raid the entire midfield. As it stands I guess they will go after Timo and maybe one more player just to make sure they can't keep pace.

I hope I'm wrong, but I feel like no matter how well Tyler plays in the 6 role, Berhalter is too stubborn to admit he's got the wrong idea.

Here are the team results from Tyler Adams since joining RBL, according to WhoScored:

    GB 27-01-2019 Fortuna Duesseldorf 0 : 4 RasenBallsport Leipzig 90' 7.73
    GB 01-02-2019 Hannover 96 0 : 3 RasenBallsport Leipzig 90' 8.36
    GDP 06-02-2019 RasenBallsport Leipzig 1 : 0 Wolfsburg 90' N/A
    GB 09-02-2019 RasenBallsport Leipzig 0 : 0 Eintracht Frankfurt 0' 6.03
    GB 16-02-2019 VfB Stuttgart 1 : 3 RasenBallsport Leipzig 90' 7.9
    GB 25-02-2019 RasenBallsport Leipzig 1 : 1 Hoffenheim 45' 6.83
    GB 02-03-2019 Nuernberg 0 : 1 RasenBallsport Leipzig 90' 7.09
    GB 09-03-2019 RasenBallsport Leipzig 0 : 0 Augsburg 73' 7.21
    GB 16-03-2019 Schalke 04 0 : 1 RasenBallsport Leipzig 90' 6.9
    IF 22-03-2019 USA 1 : 0 Ecuador 90' N/A
    GB 30-03-2019 RasenBallsport Leipzig 5 : 0 Hertha Berlin 90' 8.25

RBL have given up only two goals since he joined. I believe only one goal was scored with Adams on the field, and it was a PK--none scored through the run of play.
