It's funny how there's a pretty hard cap on even high profile midweek afternoon matches

    PREMIER LEAGUE L: MANCHESTER CITY/MANCHESTER UNITED NBC SPORTS NETWORK 2:54 PM 150 0.16 380k

So many Champs League and Prem audiences around that mark.

    2019 Tuesday Semis

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR VS AFC AJAX TNT 2:40 PM 148 0.19 418k

UEFA CHAMPIONS LEAGUE: SF: TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR FC / AFC AJAX UNIVISION DEPORTES 2:30 PM 151 0.09 222k

    vs 2018

    UCL SEMIFINAL L: REAL MADRID/BAYERN MUNCHEN FOX SPORTS 1 2:30 PM 150 0.19 471k

UEFA CL SEMIFINALS: REAL MADRID VS BAYERN MUNICH FOX DEPORTES 2:30 PM 147 0.25 490k

Obviously two very different matchups in the US market, but last year's was well ahead on cable. Interestingly, Univision's OTA network may have put 2019 over last year's but they paused coverage for breaking news in Venezuela.

Univision needs to brag about their ratings on the main network so we can see the numbers to add on to TNT and UDN. Could be looking at a record depending on the over-the-air numbers. UDN's audiences are not as high as the peak Fox Deportes ratings for big knockout matches, but that was the sole Spanish language channel in the old contract.

I think TNT's 665k tops any audience FS1 got for a CL match.

Update on a Sports Media Watch CL story on LFC-Barca 1st leg --

Not sure how Univision breaking away from the match in London to cover Venezuela alter things. I think we'll see all 4 semi matches get over a million viewers each across three networks, which is pretty impressive for weekday afternoon soccer.

This deal drew a lot of criticism for putting a lot of English commentary matches behind a web paywall, but access to big matches has been upped (with TNT and Univision in a lot more homes than FS1/Fox Dep) and with that, audiences have increased.

The top markets are in the east (mostly in the Eastern time zone with some in the Central) because people farther west don't wake up for the weekend games. I wonder how that compares to La Liga, where clubs play more games at 12:30 P.M. Eastern/9:30 A.M. Pacific or later that any Premier League clubs do. The Maryland, D.C., and Virginia area likes the Premier League.

Check out San Francisco at #9 though. That's pretty incredible. Any sport would LOVE to have DC and San Fran in their top ten because they're both major markets and very wealthy. Sure the total numbers of viewers are not as high as US big four, but by target demographic the Premier League does very well.

Not sure about Univision main network.

Last year FOX and FOX Deportes combined for 3.02 million. So Univision would need 900k+ to catch last year's total. Regardless, good numbers for the Champs League in their new US deal. Univision provides a big boost.

So in the end this year's final total Eng+Esp audience was down a bit from last year. But that shouldn't be too much of a surprise with a intra-league final vs Liverpool v Real Madrid (w/ Ronaldo).

Yup. Real Madrid especially with Ronaldo got a whole lot more eyeballs than Spurs.

About 6% higher. Which isn't a gigantic difference. And Univision is available in about 100 million fewer US homes to about 100 million fewer Americans than FOX.

Meanwhile in Spain, the Copa del Rey final match between Barcelona and Valencia aired on La 1 de TVE, averaging 6.4 million viewers (44% share).

You must 100 million fewer people. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_countries_by_population_(United_Nations) says the USA had 324,459,463 people on July 1, 2017. With several people per home, it's impossible that 100 million homes don't get Univision.

A bit like if 21 million people watched USMNT qualifier. That's the gap in popularity.

So a bit over the 3 million mark combining FOX and Telemundo (444k)
