ASHGABAT: Yazguly Hojageldiyev has become the youngest coach ever to take charge of Turkmenistan as the Central Asians look to secure a place in the 2011 AFC Asian Cup by winning the upcoming AFC Challenge Cup (February 16-27) in Sri Lanka.

At 32 years, Hojageldiyev brings to the job his experience as a player-coach for league champions MTTU.

“Our opponents in the AFC Challenge Cup are very strong, including World Cup qualifiers DPR Korea, defending champions India and ambitious neighbours Kyrgyzstan,” Hojageldiyev told www.the-afc.com.

“We will try to bring as many foreign-based players as we can and will try to get the only 2011 AFC Asian Cup berth.”

The Turkmen took hold of the reins of MTTU in 2006 and led them to two league, three Turkmenistan President’s Cup and one Super Cup title victories.

MTTU also made it to the CIS Cup semi-finals last month under his stewardship.

Hojageldiyev will replace acting coach Boris Grigoryants who guided the team in the AFC Challenge Cup qualifiers in Maldives last year.

The 2008 and 2010 AFC Challenge Cup winners get direct entry into Asia’s showpiece event in Doha next year.

In preparation for the AFC Challenge Cup, the Central Asians are scheduled to play three friendly games against local club Altyn Asyr and two more in their training camp in Bahrain starting on February 7.

Turkmenistan will meet DPR Korea in the opener on February 17 at the Sugathdasa Stadium before taking on defending champions India two days later. They will face Central Asian neighbours Kyrgyzstan on February 21 in their last Group B game.

    Hello all!

For the upcoming World Cup Qualification 2014 matches we are looking for a correspondent from Turkmenistan to cover the match against Indonesia for us from the stadium in Ashgabat (and the FIFA).

The only thing the reporter has to do is providing us:
    > The squad information of both national teams involved in the concerning match.
    > The line-ups of both teams: names, shirt numbers, position, officials
    > Start and end of first and second half
    > Goals with scorer/shirt number and minute
    > Yellow and red cards with booked player/shirt number and minute
    > Subsititutions with players names/shirt numbers and minute

Needless to say Infostrada Sports is willing to pay (40 USD) for providing this information. We will arrange press credentials for the match if needed.

Please let me know if you are able to cooperate with us for this project, or know someone who could be. If yes, then please send your contact details to fifa@infostradasports.com.

    Thanks!
