There is this perception of MLS across Europe and Italy is no different. The USMNT failing to make the WC I'm sure won't help matters. I hope Seba gets picked and he is good enough but it won't be easy as CT Gian Piero Ventura just doesn't consider MLS as being a higher level of soccer. At least when you compare it to the Serie A and the rest of Europe's top leagues.
A team blackmailing a city to build a new stadium for them. It's like we've finally become a real league.
Threats are standard sports business practice. If a new stadium is fundamental to maintaining viability of biz then you need to find one. https://t.co/HeajHFqbIR— Alexi Lalas (@AlexiLalas) October 17, 2017
A few years back I mentioned that I thought the Crew might become in play as demand for MLS grew and that city government continued to crap on the team while subsidizing the NHL over half a billion. When the Austin trademark became public I knew an MLS team would relocate and it wasn't an expansion possibly. It's a shame for Crew fans if it happens. But if your ownership and the other pro teams in town get whatever they want and your the red headed step child, it's time to move on.
no real ideas, but trying to develop a more european type supporter culture does not comport with the us idea of franchise portability
Franchises are quite portable in Europe. Just saying. What is different is that there are not many available locations.
This. There's generally a lack of motivation to move because there aren't many underserved communities to move to. And if you don't own a top flight team (like Precourt a few years ago), you don't buy one and relocate it, you buy a lower division one in the place of your choice and pour some capital into it.
