Alexis Sanchez in MLS? I haven't followed him much lately but I remember how good he was when he came up with Udinese. He would be a good one but does he really want to leave Europe or would he be using MLS as a bargaining tool to gain a better deal somewhere else?

The agents throw MLS name around quite often nowadays but Sanchez could be heading this way is doable tho.

The article is about Goalkeeper David Ospina.....................NOT Alexis Sanchez.....

Sanchez is one of the Top players in the world, in the prime of his career...............it's unlikely he'd come to MLS at this stage of his career.

Yeah I thought so. I read the headline only and didn't figure he would come here at only 28 years of age. This however, is the type of player more MLS clubs should pursue.

It's even more unlikely that the Gals or anyone else in MLS can or would pay him what he can make elsewhere.

re: sanchez in MLS- its all media cannon fodder being hyped up by alexis' negotiating agent- over $400 000US /week- wont happen
when the MLS can get this type of player, it has reached the BIG BOY status in soccer

If and when MLS gets to this type of status the league will have developed American players before having to sign European stars.

While I had a deep personal grudge against the man that could not be forgiven, nonetheless it must be said that be was the best WNT head coach ever.

No, it's not. Alexis is going to run up something like a $60-$70 million transfer fee and would warrant a $20+ million annual salary. Alexis isn't even the type of player that a non-PSG team in France should be pursuing. An MLS team signing Alexis is akin to buying a 14-year-old a Bugatti.

If MLS becomes a global top 3 league, sure. Until then, absolutely not.

Not a player like him now but when he first came up at 19/20 years of age. He was a nobody when Udinese scouted ,signed and utilized him. He played beautifully for them and in turn made a killing from selling him. This is definitely the type of player mls should look to sign. Or rather a no name nobody who turns into a star. Initially I think they bought him for $3 million which is 1/2 of what they are paying Pirlo.

Easier said than done. Euro league have better scouting systems, deeper roots and a greater allure than MLS. Its really easy to say that MLS should be signing these guys, but "these guys" are already getting scouted by Euro teams. And when push comes to shove, if a young player has to choose between MLS or Udinese, more likely than not, they are going to choose Udinese or some equivalent team in Germany, England or Spain.

First time dealing with falvo I see.

Just to let u know, things like this have been explained to him over a hundred times through the years...not an exaggeration.

    It won't matter.

    Think brick wall.

My point is we need to get the scouts in the right places and recognize and sign the better talent. It's better than spending $20 million on Lampard , Villa and Pirlo. I don't know any coach , GM , club owner or fan of the game who can't see this. Of course they should rethink their priorities.

I'm sure everyone wants Europe at first but that doesn't mean MLS can't offer the same kinds of things and not everyone can just make it there.. I lived and worked there and I know exactly what conditions are like and it's not all roses. Many South Americans , Europeans or anyone else for that matter would relish a chance to come to the USA and play. They aren't all superstars when they are starting out and again, no one knew Sanchez when Udinese signed him.
