Someone's haggis didn't agree with them by the looks of it... Um, Matthew? Don't want "Scots starlets" going to "the MLS" for free? Pay them more so they'll stay...or then at least just move south to the Premier League / Championship.
I do feel bad for Motherwell, but they're just SOL here. MLS teams are Category 4 (the default position) because of how little they spend on youth development. Team profits are irrelevant. Man City would be Category 4 if they spent as little as MLS teams do on development. That's how the system works. It does appear that Oxford United is giving them a good hosing on this deal, saving themselves some $400,000, but there's nothing illegal going on here. I don't blame them a bit for not liking it. The writer does provide us with some good comedy, referring to MLS' "huge TV audience", "huge attendance" and "vast sums of money". However, going to FIFA will accomplish nothing. FIFA's own rules were followed to the letter. Motherwell apparently is asking them to overturn or ignore their own regulations on a one-time basis and force the rich Americans to come up with a big pile of money. Just because. Anyway, the whole PURPOSE of the Category system is to take negotiation over compensation off the table and make it a simple formula. If FIFA kicks it over for Motherwell, the entire system goes down the drain, something they dearly want to avoid. But even if FIFA did so, USSF and MLS would burn rubber running over to the CAS, which does not award money on the basis of sentiment but rather on the black and white rules. FIFA knows this and isn't going to makeup some silly sum of money just so that the CAS can overturn it and sneer at them. It's easy to be cynical about MLS and USSF, but in this case the whole thing is by the book. Motherwell is butt hurt about it, as any club would be, but they've simply got no case.
Hopefully it works out for St Louis this time around. They must be starting to feel as if they're the girl the popular guy always has in his pocket---have her on standby just in case the really hot girl says no to a date this weekend. MLS in St Louis has been talked about for a very long time indeed but somehow it has never materialized.
Soccer star Wayne Rooney reportedly plans to leave D.C. United https://wjla.com/sports/content/wayne-rooney-reportedly-plans-to-leave-dc-united Thx, Jay!
St. Louis has not had a viable stadium/ownership duo until now. Sac has lacked a sugar daddy owner. Neither has been left at the alter, though Sac did look good with their stadium deal done. Both will be in soon. Decisions will be made at this BoG meeting. Announcements soon to follow.
Mike Petke is not on the training field at this morning’s practice. #RSL— Alex Vejar (Tortured Poet version) (@AlexMVejar) July 30, 2019 Petke is toast IMO.
This one seems to refute plans to leave before contract is up. https://sports.yahoo.com/rooney-says-future-mls-ahead-star-clash-181020026--sow.html
is this straw that broke the camels back stuff or did he really go into wild territory in berating the ref?
Well I was wrong, apparently. Sounds like it's three games and two weeks of no contact with the team. That said, yes, IMO.

Judging by performances this century, I'd say somebody's been taking Scotland's "greet pleyurs" for some time...
