That's ironic, since I understood the Fire to have a large contingent of Polish-American fans. When I visited Bridgeview in April 2010, a day after the plane crash of dignitaries visiting the site of the Katyn Massacre, perpetrated decades beforehand by Stalin's USSR, there was a moment of silence observed by the entire stadium and lots of Polish flags flying in Section 8. MLS had no problem with the implicit political component to the pregame ceremonies that night. The further we get from the atrocities of the communists, and the more ignorant the young hipster demographic, the more we see attraction to evils like socialism. And it's not just the idiot Antifa element in the stands, it's the idiots at MLS HQ. Their insistence on miscreants attending fan misconduct classes and issuing apologies as punishment for political speech (in derogation of their own stated policy) display eerie echoes of "re-education." The irony of their own Stalinist behavior while decrying fascism is lost on the lot of them.
Actually, it has everything to do with reality. Hate starts in the head first, before it moves to the fists or the trigger finger. Inclusiveness should mean just that...Inclusiveness for all, not just for the people who think like you or look like you. Especially those who don't. Yes, even the conservative ones. Did you know that for nearly 140 years in a certain Midwestern state, it was not only legal to kill...yes, kill, at least that's how most folks would look upon the word "exterminate"...someone of my group, it was actually encouraged by Executive Order. That same group was the nightly object of mockery and scorn, set to music no less, on stages across North America, to thunderous applause, standing ovations, and multiple awards. All in good fun, you say? I wonder if that musical were named "The Koran" or "The Torah" if it would get the same reception. I rather doubt it. There's another, much older musical. South Pacific. A song called "You've Got To Be Taught." You should read the lyrics. We all should. After all, when all is said and done, every single one of us is a minority of one. Even Seattle fans.
First, let me say I find that really sad. Second, how does that manifest itself? What do people say and do? Are you talking about other fans? I’m assuming it’s more than overhearing groups of people nearby bashing Trump.
OK, I’m confused here. If there are any Americans who want a totalitarian state employing demand side economics, combined with periodic purges of subject matter experts, i.e. Stalinists, I suspect they fit in a minivan. This is the 3rd time I’ve made the point, but i can distinguish between fascism and wanting to cut food stamps. You seem to be conflating Stalin level terror with hipsters who favor a $15 minimum wage. (And even that is a thousand miles from Nordic-style democratic socialism.) If I’m right, that’s a you problem.
Here's a link to a discussion on the Fire boards. I will caveat this with yes, it is a bit old and yes, it is in a stated political thread, but this is not at all atypical for any political discussion among fans, even at a game. What I was referring to earlier was the usual discussion of "Are all Republicans Nazis or just racist?" As I said, not calling me directly to my face, but I do tend to take it that way. I fully appreciate that soccer fans in this country lean left, but this kind of language just sucks.
When I refer to an "idiot Antifa element in the stands" I'm referring to those who glorify, or worse are themselves, black-garbed street thugs. They'll be on display tomorrow in Portland, and probably some of them will be standing with the Timbers Army the next day. And when I'm talking about socialism I'm talking about the tragedy going on right now in Venezuela. You're wrong, and deliberately misconstrue what I say. Not for the first time. And that's a you problem.
You start with a paragraph about Katyn and Stalin. Then you write about the evils of socialism. I can only read what you write. If you meant antifa you should have used that word rather than socialism.
You are either clueless or lying. This is from today Middle-age man was maced and beaten by an antifa mob. He was knocked unconscious to the ground. His partner or spouse was trying to protect him as mob still surrounded them. No police. #PortlandProtests pic.twitter.com/eAhrMSEKU1— Andy Ngô 🏳️🌈 (@MrAndyNgo) August 17, 2019 But I know this will be taken down by the lib mods quickly.
Would you like me to post photos and video of the hammer actually being held by one of the white nationalists/fascists on the bus trying to hit someone outside the bus before it was taken away or would you like me to explain that the tweet you embedded is by someone who has been discredited many times and is considered to be part of those groups you are defending?
And I see we're back to considering "Antifa" and organized group as opposed to a general set of beliefs that various organized groups follow. SMH. I'm going to start referring to all San Jose Earthquake fans as thugs now, since they all believe in supporting the Earthquakes and a few of them showed up and started an unprovoked attack at a Rapids tailgate. Obviously all Earthquak fans must be the same type of thugs since they all believe in the Earthquakes. (don will now respond by splitting some hair in some way he will repeat for 5-6 posts before moving on)
LOL. The hair to be split is that it was one single fan (at the Eastern Conference final in 2010), not "a few." To my knowledge he never attended another Quakes game thereafter and he's long gone.
From last night on the eve of the nazi rally in Portland. Andres Flores and family were the target. 1162814483154292736 is not a valid tweet id
I'll post it: You're going to see this video going around a lot in the next 24 hours, purporting to show antifa attacking white supremacists on their bus.FACT: the hammer came from inside the bus, and the white supremacist wielding it swung it at someone's head before it was taken by antifa. pic.twitter.com/PKQ8VCtABF— Spek (@spekulation) August 18, 2019
here we are folks, the scary antifa people @MLS + trump want you to fear. clearly neighbors dancing & blowing bubbles under a bridge is an act of terror right? 😂🤣 meanwhile armed white supremacists stalking people incl. an MLS player aren't terrorists at all right?#AUnitedFront https://t.co/FouGs6heIO— MLS Rumors ↙️↙️↙️ (@mlsrumors) August 17, 2019
Hit those little crosses to go back in the chain. It started with me disagreeing with the assertion that Antifa is about deplatforming. IOW, if Andy Ngo is telling the truth (which is a problematic assertion, but hey, it’s yours) he proved my point. Those guys aren’t deplatforming Milo. Now who iseither clueless or lying?
There are over 10 different clips in that twitter link that I posted and you are zeroing in on who first threw a hammer? Also, who gave authority to Antifa to dirrect traffic? Heck, even the producer of the Ellen show, Andy Lassner, a well-known ultra liberal, is disgusted by Antifa's thuggery. He had to delete his tweet below hours later after the lib mob came after him. Hey Antifa, whoever you are, how about you cut it the ******** out? You’re putting millions and millions of us in a position where the right wants us to defend something we want no part of. You don’t represent me. Go home. — andy lassner (@andylassner) August 17, 2019
If a mod writes in post 66 to get back on topic (stuff in stadium) and you ignore that and go off in post 68, it oughtn't surprise you much that your post gets deleted. Really, the complaint should be we mods did not continue to delete posts. Which may be the outcome after all is said and done.
Andy Lassner is well known??? If I may follow moderator’s directive, I’d like to remind everyone of a small piece of context. There was a somewhat recent article about a group of quasi fascists trying to make their presence felt at Yankee Stadium. That caused issues within the NYCFC fan base and at the stadium. It may have been in The Guardian, but don’t quote me on that.
