It's not accurate. It's not funny. It's not clever. It's not analysis. It's facile. It shows an actual lack of understanding of reality tv (can't believe I'm typing that). It's mediocre. It's a time when viewers need to understand what's going on at the highest levels of govt.— Soledad O'Brien (@soledadobrien) March 7, 2018
Here's the Cillizza piece O'Brien refers to. https://www.cnn.com/2018/03/06/poli...030618trump-reality-show-analysis0942PMVODtop I'm not able to excerpt from it because whenever I go to another tab, this reply space is blank when I come back. The only objection I have to Cillizza's piece is that huge swaths of the "news" business are aiding and abetting this White House As Reality TV thing. Including O'Brien's employers, and maybe even herself, though I'm in no position to say.
I'm with Chris. I don't get her objection. I mean, maybe she has a good one, but just saying everything about the story is terrible is Trumplike.
Stormy Daniels lawyer, @MichaelAvenatti responds to me re Sanders' statement Trump won at arbitration: “yeah and he also won the popular vote.”— jimrutenberg (@jimrutenberg) March 7, 2018
It would be great if more Democrats took this attitude. “Look, we know the Trump administration is full of liars,” California Gov. Jerry Brown says in response to AG Sessions. “The release records are public, and there's nothing that stops any sheriff who runs the jails to working with ICE.” https://t.co/YVbTYKJhnk pic.twitter.com/5KpGagyB7M— CBS News (@CBSNews) March 7, 2018
I think Jonathan Alter's been reading my posts because last week sounding plain worn out he said on MSNBC "Donald Trump is just a despicable human being"
This is what you get when your only qualification for the job is your brother making backdoor deals at the Seychelles... Does this look familiar? Students lined up in rows. A teacher in front of a blackboard. Sit down; don’t talk; eyes up front. Wait for the bell. Walk to the next class. Everything about our lives has moved beyond the industrial era. But American education largely hasn’t. #SXSWEDU pic.twitter.com/kyy2r7bTud— Secretary Betsy DeVos (@BetsyDeVosED) March 6, 2018 Pictures from my 4th grade classroom: pic.twitter.com/3VmftwWYfk— Jennifer Butler (@JenButlerTeach) March 7, 2018 My mother used to say, if you don't know what you are talking about, then don't talk. You cannot talk about education. You're not even qualified enough to sharpen a pencil. It's insanity that you are in charge of Education?!?!— Mr. Spock 🖖 (Commentary) (@SpockResists) March 7, 2018 Actually, your stock photos looks unfamiliar. In my classroom, and many others (that you probably don’t know about) students are the agents of their own learning and often are the ones up in front of the class teaching and learning with each other. pic.twitter.com/M02YzBBMmJ— Alex Brown (@AlexBrown15) March 7, 2018
Jerry is in the fortunate position where he doesn't have to give a ********. The only thing that plays worse than an arrogant New Yorker in California, is an arrogant New Yorker Klansman. The people have the governor's back on this one.
I'm NOT with Chris. He blithely critiques this disastrous administration with the same eye as he would a season of The Apprentice or Big Brother. Bad takes like his don't belong in a CNN Politics section.
We're speaking about different things. I don't read the guy, don't care about him. I am saying, when somebody comes and just says "that column is terrible," as Soledad O'Brien did, I am deeply unimpressed. If that is all you have to offer, don't bother showing up. As for the column itself, eh ... unobjectionable. The Trump White House is like a reality show. Well yeah, it is. I didn't need a column to tell me that, but I can't argue with that, either.
Well, well. Back in the swim. So to speak. Trump partied with Russian oligarchs at Vegas nightclub shut down over ‘lewd’ acts involving women and urine: report https://www.rawstory.com/2018/03/tr...-shut-lewd-acts-involving-women-urine-report/
Perhaps Trump should have this guys type his tweets http://www.welovetheiraqiinformationminister.com/
I think it's the Book of Prostate that says "A pill the hue of the heavens shall permit men of many decades to lie down with harlots"
It's glib clickbait, and it treats all of this as nothing more than particularly entertaining inside-the-beltway drama. Cillizza is a particularly terrible pundit. His twitter profile implicitly brags about what a troll he is. Our public discourse is the worse for having mediocre white men like him holding positions of opinion-shaping authority.
I guess the talk of pee and Russians makes this somewhat related: Whoa if true, as they say. https://t.co/31XVvp6foe— Julia Ioffe (@juliaioffe) March 8, 2018
p That's fair, but she's been a pretty consistent and insightful critic on Twitter for a while now. And as a former CNN employee, it's understandable she takes umbrage at seeing someone like Cillizza getting so much airtime. But it really ISN'T like a reality show. Those are scripted and controlled. The drama queens at the center are being staged by the producers to make entertainment. This is a case where the TV crew, production company, and network are all at the mercy of the narcissistic diva on camera.
