I always like the peppiness of mariachi music as well. Even the ballads have a peppiness.

Democracy is not biblical. Why do you think the Republicans (and the significant faction of conservative evangelicals therein) are sitting idly by while American democracy is attacked (partly by them)?

Im pretty sure this is the stupidest atheist version of Christianity I’ve ever seen. And that’s a really, really high bar.

I thought the biggest controversy with this photo was that he wore a helmet.

Yeah.... Not really. Source? Sorry. That's a very glib way to describe what happened.
That's because it isn't really the case.
If you'd like a really great and long discussion, I'd point you in this direction -> mormonstories.com. John Dehlin got excommunicated 4 years ago (wow! it's been that long!) for running this website. He's much more attached than I've been able to maintain. Also, I don't care. :D
Typical. Utah is MLM country. We bless people with shitty jobs. We steal tips from people making below minimum wage, because.... It's crazy out here. Every misanthrope gets a pass, because putting on a show of being pious is more important than actually being "Christ-like." All those tropes of "but he was such a good man! I never saw it coming!" Happens everyday here, and nobody gets wiser. Religion is a hell of a drug.
That's ********ing crazy. I hope y'all had an orgy.

Yeah pretty glib. The cliff note version. But true enough without the whitewash.

We could go back to Mountain Meadows. Or Young's Avenging Angel. I still have books on my shelf of Smith. Young. The movement west. The handcart battalions. The Beehive State Map that takes in Longbeach now CA.

We used to ride my motor bike on parts of the Mormon Trail. Found some mule shoes and a wagon wheel. Echo canyon and the sharp shooter sites, a reminder of the Mormon vs US War.
I gave a talk one night at Brigham Young's house to the Welsh Society on the Welsh soldier in the Zulu War. The Welsh made up the bulk of the miners in the Park City silver mines.
In other words. I enjoyed my time in Utah, travelled the State and made some good friends there. :)

Oh, to make a long post longer. One of the best books of the trek west is William Clayton"s Journal. He made a odometer for his wagon wheel. Then described the journey mile by mile as he traveled with Young to the great Salt Lake. The book was passed back and printed for all the Mormons who followed. OK done now.

Nothing controversial about him and one of his daughters wearing a helmet...it's actually commendable and responsible. As an avid cyclist it breaks my heart to see parents allowing their kids to ride bikes (or skateboard ftm) without a helmet.

Sarah Sanders, exposed. There are a number of Trumpers who shouldn’t be able to go on straight news anymore. If others follow George S’s lead, she’s one of them.

Never in my 44 years of life have I put on a helmet to go bicycling. Because unless you have the coordination of a drunk rutabaga it's completely unnecessary.

    You're an idiot then.

I'm sure you're a perfectly fine cyclist. But you're not the only person on the road. And the other people on the road tend to be complete morons driving 4,000 pound killing machines.

When I walk, which is how I get to work every day and how I spend Sunday afternoons about 50 times a year, I assume that every single one of them is not only a moron, but that they are drunk AND under the influence of drugs that make me resemble someone who owes them several thousand dollars.

Me too. I was a commuting cyclist in NYC for 20 years. I always assumed the bus drivers couldn't see me, the cabbies were wasted, and the colectivo drivers in Brooklyn actively wanted to kill me.

I've had at least 4 or 5 people in my wide peer group bite it.

I would certainly be dead or at least brain dead if it weren't for my helmet. (A dog apparated right in front of me in Prospect Park as I was going maybe 25 MPH; I landed on my head.)

Not wearing a helmet is just stupid and selfish. I think life insurance companies should treat riding without a helmet the same way they treat suicide.

We went to Central Park on Tuesday and tourists were all over on citibikes. Not sure I saw one with a helmet. Horse carriages, joggers, rollerbladers, walkers, dogs, strollers. I don't know how someone doesn't crash once in a while. Epxerienced or not.
