Can someone correct me on this, aren't there only 27 amendments? So what is going on here. The Virginia House of Delegates just voted to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment as the 28th Amendment to the Constitution of United States of America.“Equal rights under the law shall not be denied or abridged by the United States or any State on account of sex.” pic.twitter.com/irIF1NkayJ— Sen. Yeah, I was hell of confused, I did not know this existed. But it is no joke this thing is kind of real. https://apnews.com/0c83b5e4a7492bf400b56b3f92f92ed4 https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/co...ould-soon-hit-major-milestone-it-may-n1112581 I guess this will now go to the courts. I guess 2 things would be tested, 1, can congress put a time limit and can they then extend the time limit when ever they want and 2, are states allowed to back out of an amendment once they already passed it.
Your ignorance is understandable. I think the last guy who advocated for the Equal Rights Amendment was Jimmy Carter.
Why? From the comtemporary rightwing perspective, would go against her thesis that he was being emasculated.
I agree with you, not because it's a wedge issue, but because I think it will improve the US Constitution by adding a specific guarantee (protection from sex discrimination) that is within the spirit of the constitution as we understand it, but conspicuously absent from the original document. Those who wrote the constitution understood that the document could be improved, and that's the reason why the original document includes a process for providing amendments to it. It would be significant if the Democrats nominate a woman for president again, and if she takes the stand to advocate for the passage of the Equal Rights Amendment.
His comments about the orange light bulb are dangerously close to self deprecating humor. That would mean some self awareness. Kind of like finding life on Mars.

Very stable genius: "There is a scene where the president is talking with the prime minister of India and sort of gets his geography wrong and he says 'well at least you don't border China'... That shrill! just terrible that Pelosi smiled while signing the impeachment articles, if only she’d treated it with the same solemnity Republicans did while trying to take health care away from millions of Americans pic.twitter.com/2F956jwIh6— shauna (@goldengateblond) January 15, 2020
This Lev Parnas interview with @maddow is kinda like if one of the Watergate burglars had gone on the MacNeil Lehrer Report in '74 and directly implicated Nixon and his staff, at least if you imagine that interview would be ignored and change no one's mind.— Orin Kerr (@OrinKerr) January 16, 2020

The day you find self-deprecating humor in The Party of Trump is the day it is no longer The Party of Trump. Having no sense is shame or imperfection or empathy is a foundational pillar of Trumpism. That is why their only "jokes' are mocking insults.
It's also, not coincidentally, a foundational pillar of fascism. The collective act of punching down unites them. The cruelty is the point. Read this if you haven't already. https://www.theatlantic.com/ideas/archive/2018/10/the-cruelty-is-the-point/572104/
We're on the brink of being a Banana Republic. I hope all voters understand how important is to defeat Trump soundly in November. A vote for third party does not suffice this time. Here's the context everyone is ignoring:The DOJ has had Parnas's phone & all these damning texts for 3 months. But we learn of them only bc a court order allowed Parnas to give them to the House a few days ago.Seems like Barr is covering up these crimes. And he's implicated. https://t.co/tkFKpLYuOV— Jed Shugerman (@jedshug) January 16, 2020 4/ And the whistleblower identified Barr several times. From the *2d paragraph* of whistleblower report:"Attorney General Barr appears to be involved as well"https://t.co/rCBNIYxE7i— Jed Shugerman (@jedshug) January 16, 2020
Trump strangely quiet on twitter this morning. Could it be, he actually has a sense how serious this could be for him? Is it sinking in right now given that Parnas interview.
He's just trying to decide whether it's Nunes, Barr or Pence to toss under the bus. He doesn't really know those people.
