Who's the wealthiest pro footballer in Europe right now??
My guess would be a coin toss between C. Ronaldo and Messi. I could also see Neymar being in the top 3, after his money-driven move to PSG.
Wrong. Its neither Messi, Ronaldo or Neymar.
Its Pogba without the 'R' but you're still wrong.........LOL
Nope. But good guess though
Is the footballer active or retired?
He is currently active and playing in one of the top 4 leagues (BL, Liga, EPL, SerieA)
lay some ground workon what you are basing the answer on.
is it based on salary, or income from all sources including advertising or is it based on net worth cause the answer is the same Ronaldo, now salary bale and Neymar can exceed them,
It is not based solely on salary, it's based on total net worth
I have found several websites such as THIS that all say Christiano Ronaldo is #1. If you have another reference with a different player that would be quite interesting. Perhaps the footballer in question is an heir to some royal family or enormously wealth business tycoon.
I read that it's a son of an oil rich sheik - playing in the reserve team somewhere in England. Cant remember the name of the player or club though.
That website is technically wrong as of right now. Remember we're talking about net worth, and not yearly salary.
And no, its not the son of a rich oil sheik.
Whats really cool about this trivia question its difficult to find the answer on google, but IT IS THERE if you look long and hard enough
I'll take it even a step further, the player in question has a much higher net worth then the top 10 highest earning players combined!!
I will reveal the answer after the weekend, in the meantime keep guessing
DING.....DING!!! We have a winner!!
Flamini's net worth is around 20 Billion GBP (which is about $27 billion US dollars).
He owns this company: http://www.gfbiochemicals.com/company/
His head office is located right here in Geleen, Netherlands
More here: https://www.google.com/search?as_q=..._occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=
Flamini has him beat by about $7 billion
That is on paper. It appears that the company is privately held and that valuation is just an estimate. Some of the articles I read from the Google search are misleading. the company produces levulinic acid which is a building block for a lot of key compounds in many areas. It is not a direct fuel replacement as some articles note (though it is used to produce some key fuel additives). Alcohol is still the principle fuel produced from biomass and these days mainly sourced from corn. Bio-diesel is second and can come from vegetable oils.
Still really cool and it's good to see a football player look to the future.
They say levulinic acid will some day be used in manufacture of all plastics ( which of course is mostly made from natural gas and oil nowadays).
It's also biodegradable
^^DuPont has had a long history of research into this area as well. They have commercialized bioproduction of lactic acid that can be formulated into a variety of biodegradable plastics. http://www.dupont.com/products-and-services/plastics-polymers-resins/bio-based-polymers.html I worked with some of the DuPont folks back when I was doing regulatory affairs in that area.
