Well.....become a member if you are that worried. But I guess by definition, "worst case" could be 500 billion dollars per ticket. And if the game is that important than it won't matter what cost. Be patient and stay tuned.
already got a room reserved at the Residence Inn Downtown - they are about $190 a night and probably will go up. will also buy my tix from AO.
That's a cool hotel. Stayed there a couple times when I used to live in DC and came in for games. It's an old bank building that has been remodeled, and lots of new eateries within steps of the hotel. I'd particularly recommend Tip Top across the street. http://www.tiptopcolumbus.com/
The American Outlaws @AmericanOutlaws2d Supposed to hear soon from US Soccer when KC and Columbus will be going on sale. Watch your email/fb/twitter. And on the downtown C-bus front, (next door to the courtyard marriott on Spring/High). 2 great place: - Barrio Tapas, great bar/lounge and have Quilmes on bottle (viva boca juniors) - Elevator Brewery, old school looking place. Solid.
No offense to people on Columbus but a scoreboard fire? Really???? I think this should be the last time we play a match in this stadium. KC would be better for all intents and purposes.
Barrio has closed, and been replaced by Madrid and White Room Bar directly above it. Essentially the same concept, but different ownership, I believe.
Tickets for Mexico and Jamaica in Columbus and KC US Soccer has said to expect the tickets for Columbus and KC Hex games to be announced in June. In order to keep these tickets in the hands of US fans, these games will be initially offered to American Outlaws Members only with a limit on how many can be purchased by an individual, so it may be a good time to become part of the movement! So if you know someone that isn't a member, you may want to nudge em a bit. www.theamericanoutlaws.com
I asked this before but how quickly do people expect these tickets to sell out? Is it a matter of minutes, hours, days? And did they give advanced warning last time? IE, "Tickets go on sale in two weeks at 2:00pm" or was it "Hey tickets are on sale, gogogogo"
i expect them to go in a matter of hours...not sure about advance notice. my nephew and i plan on grabbing them as soon as one of us gets the email from AO - we can always get rid of extras.
Is there something I have to be signed up to be notified or just being an AO member? Should be great!
you should be getting monthly emails that contain the passwords to log in on their site and take advantage of their offers. if you just signed up - did you get a confirmation email? if so you should be good. make sure you pay-pal information is current and up to date also.
Anyone one know how many AO pre sale tickets we can buy? Looking to buy for a group (10-15). Would I need to purchase a second membership to do so?
i am guessing they will limit members to 2-4 tickets...just a guess. I would get several of your friends to join.
they will have several sections of tickets...AO is becoming more and more important to USSoccer. I think they have sold out 2 or 3 charter flights to Brazil already. the tix will go quickly.
Wouldn't surprise me if they opened up tix for members only, one at a time. Its a tiny stadium and their allocaion is relatively small, they have 3,000-ish members so.... My gut is they will limit it to 2 tix per member. Just a guess..
If past games are any indication, US supporter club members will get first dibs, probably four tickets max per order. Then American Outlaws, who knows what the max will be, my guess is four as well. After that, who knows.
Going to be making my first U.S.-mexico match this WCQ cycle (Why I haven't been before is pretty pathetic) and was wondering what is the best airport to fly into if Columbus isn't an option? I would be coming from Utah with a couple of cousins making the treck from San Francisco to join up with me in Utah before leaving. Any suggestions on a hotel? - Some in this thread have mentioned the Residence Inn or Courtyard Marriott.
Dayton (DAY) is the best alternative airport option to CMH, in my opinion. It's smallish and provides easy access to the highways that will take you to Columbus. AirTran usually has decently priced flight options into DAY. Cleveland is another option, but there is a lot of construction along I-71 to/from Columbus right now, so I wouldn't recommend it. Pick a hotel downtown. I'd strongly recommend one the following in order to be within walking distance to the best Columbus has to offer. I've stayed at every one of these, so if you'd like more in-depth details, please don't hesitate to ask. Hampton Inn & Suites Columbus Downtown Crowne Plaza Columbus Downtown Drury Inn & Suites Convention Center Hyatt Regency Columbus Residence Inn Columbus Downtown The Blackwell
I'd also recommend the new downtown hilton hotel. Great proximity to the short north and arena district as well as downtown spots and a fairly quick jaunt to the stadium. http://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/ohio/hilton-columbus-downtown-CMHDWHH/index.html
This is one thing that sucks about the sport becoming so popular. I went to the USA-Mexico games in Columbus in 2001, 2005, and 2009 and didn't have any problem at all getting tickets (they were pretty cheap too, I think 2005 was only $35 for example). Now I'll have to pay to be a member of some group AND then pay $50+ for the ticket in order to go? Lame.
