I don't think anyone cares if we're playing Turkey or Armenia in this match. Just as long as there is a game with the US scheduled on that weekend in Philly. If this article is true Turkey will just be swapped out for some other nation. We'll party, tailgate, cheer on the Yanks, celebrate a victory and drink more beer no matter who we play.
My first reaction is the website this was reported on is bogus... From Ives: Rumors making the rounds on the internet on Friday had the Turkish national team cancelling its scheduled friendly vs. the United States on May 29 in Philadelphia, but the U.S. Soccer Federation called the rumors unfounded. "We have not been notified by the Turkish federation of any cancellation," said U.S. Soccer spokesman Neil Buethe. The Turkey friendly, set for Lincoln Financial Field, is the U.S. national team's final home match before departing for South Africa for the 2010 World Cup. The match is one of two friendlies Turkey is playing in the United States, including a match at Red Bull Arena vs. the Czech Republic on May 22nd.
As has been pointed out by others in the other thread in the USA Men forum, there is very little chance of this being cancelled due to the fact that Turkey would face sanctions from FIFA for cancelling the friendly as some sort of political retribution.
Any updates on what the outlaws have planned? I want to make hotel reservations and plan accordingly to take driving out of the equation.
What sections will be the sams army sections. I am trying to get tickets in the supporters end but havent seen anything about it so far.
Just go to the source my friend. Tickets in the supporters sections, cheaper then what you would pay on ticketmaster, and all the money is used to support US soccer FANS. www.theamericanoutlaws.com Deadline is April 1st.
Just wanted to say your efforts are much-appreciated and I can't wait to see what gets worked out. This will be my first time to Philly, so I'm really looking forward to the weekend.
Part of the AO Boston crew decided to go to Pat's and Geno's back to back. It was a bad but tasty decision.
Really? The match is a little over two months away. Will tailgate information determine if you get tickets or not? The same crew that did the Gold Cup tailgate in Philly will be doing this one too; you won't be disappointed.
No, I already got my tickets, but knowing night before/pre game bar/march/tailgate infor WILL determine where I book my hotel.
Makes sense, anywhere in Center City should work out for you. Not sure about the night before, going to guess the Dark Horse. Since it is a 2:00 kick-off, I would think that the tailgate will be only event for game day.
You obviously have never partied with AO before. I can almost guarentee will will have a bar and be drinking at 8 AM.
Just book a hotel downtown....wherever the Party is going to take place you can get there via Subway or a short walk.
