"an official announcement of the game will be made on Sunday (today) and a news conference with further details will be in STL on Monday" http://m.stltoday.com/sports/soccer...551f-88a3-702b16e2ccac.html?mobile_touch=true
Friday: USMNT Saturday: Hawks @ Blues Sunday: Bears @ Rams I need to make this happen. Already penciled in on a trip to Tampa that same weekend, hoping my buddy is flexible.
My first USMNT game was the 1989 qualifier vs El Salvador at the St. Louis Soccer Park. Was a sophomore in high school and 3 buddies drove down from KC. It's been all down hill ever since. Pardon the selfie post.
At first take I was like.... ...Out of all the places to host a Qualifier... .... we are going to host it in a baseball stadium in St. Louis? That said, it is in November so they have plenty of time to make it as soccer friendly as possible even if the Cards win the World series. Also, the match should bring a buzz to the area and a special type of official match hype so it should be a sell out crowd. Which would probably not happen in other cities with a stadium of that capacity since no one really cares about Caribbean teams. I am definitely tempted to drive down there from Chicago. And I am sure plenty of others in the Midwest will be tempted too.
Ticketing information complete with map and prices: http://stlouis.cardinals.mlb.com/stl/ticketing/soccer.jsp. Fully open stadium with expensive tickets. Times have changed even in the little more than three years since the USMNT opened its qualifying campaign against Antigua & Barbuda in June, 2012 in a downsized Tampa NFL stadium with much lower ticket prices.
Yeah, St. Louis is an obvious money grab locale. Huge local fanbase, easy access for the Chicago/KC/etc fanbases.
I dare say I think these prices are The new normal. We knew that with increased exposure and fans that's gonna be the case
I was shocked to see AO release their code to the public a few days ago. I was going to go through my buddy who's a member but ended up picking up a pair on my own.
It is the reality now that with US Soccer changing the way AO tickets are handled, with it now being all done online with tickets uploaded, emailed, mailed directly from the source a code/password has to be released in some way and with the sheer number of members it is bound to find its way into public domain.
No surprise here. I mentioned in an earlier post that the hype and the buzz would be like no other city for a match against some Caribbean team nobody really cares about. People in the area have not seen the US play in a few decades. They are hungry to see them again. Add in the people like me in the midwest who would like to travel to St. Lou and visit and BAM.... ...instant success at the box office.
Saint Vincent won at home 2 nil vs Aruba so, at this moment, seems like our possible opponent @ STL. The away game coming up Tuesday. Our away game to either of these teams, if I'm not mistaken, will be Sep 2016 so plenty of time to save for the away trip! Home teams on the left side...
Ok, I'm in. Stoked for it. Looking for an AO/Supporters section ticket if you hear of one let me know.
I'm in, found an AO ticket. Staying at Marriott Grand down the street, doing this up fancy style. 10-nil to the good guys.
ohhh ohh... you'll go to STL but not Trinidad!?! I see what's up... you just don't want to hang out with us, FINE!
I know man. I know. I feel bad as it is. I still peek at flights...., around same time I check out old girlfriends on Facebook when the wife isn't looking. Ha..
The AO section is general admission. The seat on your ticket is irrelevant. You need a wristband to get into the section.
