Cristante > Barella The only way Monchi gets serious about Barella is if Pellegrini exercises his release clause and leave, otherwise we don’t need him.
Because we have Pellegrini, Pastore, Coric and even Gerson who can play that role and none of them are really good winger candidates except for maybe Gerson. If moving Zaniolo to the wing allows you to get he and Pellegrini on the field at the same time that's a great option.
Supposedly we already have agreed terms with Barellas camp I can see him staying on loan with them the rest of the year and coming in the summer
I like Cristante but he’s more of what we already have. Barella is actually suited as a deep play maker and is more of a need. But if we end up with both somehow, even better
Or we could <gasp> put out a lineup that plays to the strengths of the players we have instead of trying to pigeon hole a player into an unnatural position just to appease some stupid fvcking idealized line up. As for how many players currently play the same position, good, let them battle it out for playing time. The losers can fall off and it only makes the winners stronger.
I think he could do great on the wing, we’ll see soon as EDF is starting to play him there. He is fast, has a mean shot and good with the ball in tight spaces. We don’t have plenty of options for RW so no hurt in trying.
The team is finally starting to gel, selling Under now is a mistake imo. yes 50M is a lot of money but his price can only go higher not lower at this stage. Keep him till the summer, boost his price up and start a bidding war between the giants.
He hasn’t progressed since he broke through, his price can definately go down. There is a reason people have been surprised 50m offers are being tabled.
I would have agreed with u if the team seemed lost or looked like it was going nowhere but we re starting to finally look good and he will get some good service from LoPelle and Zaniolo. He will be good this 2nd half of the year and we all know young players take some time to truly shine. We ve seen it with Rudiger, we re seeing it with Schick and nowadays a lot of teams are paying for "assured" potential. Look at Pulisic being sold for 70M while sitting on the bench for Dortmund. Obviously there are no guarantees in football, only calculated risks and i think this one is a no brainer for me, for the good of the team not to disturb its progress right now and for the money we can grab in the summer.
There is no point in selling Under in Jan if we don’t have someone better lined up. He is on pace to hit 10+ goals and assists with 6 and 7 already, so I doubt his price will go down.
Yeah I get it and he probably could do a job temporarily on the wing but it's not his future. He's already nearly impossible for seasoned pro's to knock off the ball due to his physical strength. I just don't see a good reason, outside of the odd game or emergency, to move him to the wing when he has the strength, size and skill to be an absolute colossus in the middle of the park.
Is he necessarily better? Ziyech has 12 goals and 10 assists in 25 games. Under has 6 goals and 9 assists in 24 games. One league is known for scoring and not much defense, the other league is known for stout defense. I like Ziyech, a lot, but I'm not sure he's a guaranteed upgrade over Under. edit. Under is also 4 years younger.
Ziyech has created 20 big chances so far [emoji15] third season on the row he’s leading Europe, only Messi has the same. He needs a bigger challenge. That said, Under has bigger upside and Ziyech is not moving in January.
In terms of what he would bring game to game consistency and productivity it's not even up for debate who is better right now. Under has a handful of moments on a highlight reel and for most games is a ghost. He has potential but it's probably 3-4 years away from seeing what he can do consistently. I'd take the money and not look back. Under will be a fine player eventually but so will 50 other guys.
Yea but like I said, the Eredivisie is notorious for being fairly weak defensively. For the record I think he's a pretty good talent but when you look at his stats you really need to do so knowing the league he plays in is not a strong defensive league.
I feel like now with JJ's injury they will be forced to be a CB whether they like it or not. Surprised were not seeing a bunch of new rumors flowing in now.
