Took the words out of my mouth. His salary isn't that high so it would be insane to let him go for free
He is 33 years old fullback going to Turkey, even if they pay something its going to be negligible, certainly not enough to buy a replacement. He already asked the club to release him from his contract according to reports few weeks ago
If anything, the DM position is becoming more appreciated. The roles that aren't being as defined are mezzala / box-to-box/10's et al. The 10 is dying. The DM/pivot is not. Either way, this is moot, because we're talking specifically about Diawara, and specifically how he fits with Fonseca. Go watch a video, or read some the detailed analysis that's been linked here. Think of the role Fred played with him, and ask yourself: is that Gerson, or is that Diawara? Gerson has no defensive instincts/ability whatsoever. People focus way too much on staring at the ball when they watch a game.
Yeah, that's a bit of a different argument. One, we don't if Turkey is the destination yet, and two, we will absolutely get something for him if he leaves. Terminating his contract does nothing for us. Sweet, he can ask all he wants. We'd be dumb as hell to do that.
Yea I've seen Diawara play when he was at Bologna and I really, really wanted him. That said every young player is a gamble and there are a 100 things that can make or break a player. I know I come off as negative towards young players sometimes but that's not my feeling at all I'm just very, very cautious in proclaiming a kid 'great'. I've just seen enough "can't miss" young players in my lifetime to know that more miss than don't.
Sigh... looks like Hustle has to be a cuck again. Look at these transfers to Turkey In recent memory, and tell me that Kolarov wouldn't get a fee: Jermaine Lens Vagner Love Negredo Gary Medel Adriano Soldano Skrtel Van Persie Nani Nagamoto Mariano Podolski Dzemali Sneijder Not to mention the guys like Pepe, Kagawa et al whose wages were absorbed/figured out. Kolarov fits right in line with what's been happening in the Turkish market for quite some time. Would we get 10m? No, of course not. But 3-5m ? Yeah, I think we could.
I feel ya. I'm not saying Diawara is going to be great (I do think he has upside though), I'm just saying I'd back him 1000x more to succeed as a pivot under Fonseca than I would Gerson.
Then we're dumb. We either get something, or we keep him. Letting him walk for nothing is just poor asset management, imo. I don't care if he decides to pull a Dzeko and pouts, either. Keep his ass.

I think it would be pretty dumb for anyone to buy Zaniolo now. He's had one good season and his value now probably isn't going to change much whether they buy now or in two years. We are so bad at selling players he might even be cheaper, lol.
He should. You get a starting LB with great offensive output for 1-2 seasons. That's 100% worth 3-5m in the current transfer climate. Not to mention Turkey kinda has an MLS thing going on where they like to attract bigger names. Pepe went there and got like a 5m/year contract at the age of 34-35.
They released him from that contract. Turkey have been going through bad economic crash and their purchasing power may not be the same. In other news, Fonseca wants Lyanco. Smart dude.
It was mutual consent, but yeah. Some shit went sour there. Pepe went on to Porto and actually played kinda well against us, whilst being part of one of Dzeko's many clownish dives. As for their current market, it sure doesn't sound like it's taking a nose-dive. Didn't that crash start in 2018? Didn't they still bring in guys? Even looking at the rumor mill, it doesn't seem like much has changed, man. Babel's returned, Banega's linked heavily... etc Guess we'll just find out.

Another Morty crush, snapped up before Cairo got his dick sucked. Shame. haha, yeah that's one way of looking at it. Raiola would surely demand a wage increase after one decent season, though, knowing that guy.
