Yamil Asad is back with Velez Sarsfield in Argentina... the Quakes should bring him in on loan. He's 24 and has performed consistently (~30 games per season) in MLS the last two seasons on loan (at below DP level): 2017 with Atlanta: 7 goals 13 assists in 2750 minutes 2018 with DC: 9 goals 8 assists in 2350 minutes https://www.mlssoccer.com/players/yamil-asad Compare that to Vako's production as a DP and around the same age
Will have a broader piece on the Quakes later, but San Jose GM Jesse Fioranelli told me that there is no truth to the reports linking the club to Marco Fabian.— Sam Stejskal (@samstejskal) January 7, 2019
According to a fan who posts on Reddit a quakes rep told them they will be signing a homegrown player soon.
Assuming it's one of these four, based on what's been reported elsewhere... ranked from highest to lowest probability: 1. CJ Grey (left back... the guy we signed will be with the U-20s) 2. JJ Foe Nuphaus 3. Casey Walls 4. Drake Callender (no way they sign a GK) College Homegrown prospect rankings: Tabbing up NCAA's top HGP contenders Honorable Mention GK Drake Callender (Cal/San Jose) ... D J.J. Next '03s in line for a pro deal - Casey Walls (@SJEarthquakes)- Moses Nyeman (@dcunited)- Elton Chifamba (@ColumbusCrewSC)- Gavin Krenecki (@SacRepublicFC)#usynt pic.twitter.com/IMXVdBILp0— Joey (@USAprospects) December 7, 2018 ... https://quakesepicenter.com/2018/08/03/homegrown-prospectus-summer-2018/ LB – Christopher “CJ” Grey (UC Berkley ’21) We might as well start with the position with greatest need, and a player that I am fairly confident will be offered a homegrown deal at some point (although, as he’s still just a Freshman, it might not be this winter). Grey is highly-regarded, with appearances for both the US and Jamaican youth national team setups, and made 12 starts in his freshman season at Cal. I’ve heard from one academy insider that he is regarded as one of the top left-back prospects in the college ranks.
I am not sure if we should compare Yamil who has played with teams that have very very good players as opposed to Vako who literally is being asked to carry the entire damn team--which, as a $1.5M/year player, he cannot, and should not be asked to carry the team. When our team was actually decent in 2017, Vako's stat line was 5 goals, 2 assists in 784 minutes. That's more points/minutes than Asad and certainly beats him handily in goals/mins.
I'm being told #Quakes74 are set to sign Benjamin Galindo Jr., who was present at today's introduction of Matias Almeyda and his staff to fans. He is the son of San Jose's assistant coach and ex-Tri international Benjamin Galindo: https://t.co/usXKj9KbJL— Joel Soria (@soriajoelfutbol) January 21, 2019
FC Cincy just snagged up Caleb Stanko in the "mercans returning stateside" order. are we next? Who are some guys that we might look at in that regard?
From the MLS site: 2019 Allocation Ranking Order Transactions December 10: San Jose Earthquakes traded the No. 2 spot in the Allocation Ranking Order in exchange for the No. 6 spot in the Allocation Ranking Order, $75,000 in General Allocation Money and $75,000 in Targeted Allocation Money. Once again, Allocation Money trumps everything else - the true sign of an ambitious owner...

welp, SKC just flipped Ike Opara to Minnesota United for 1 million in allocation money....... The intelligence gap between a club like SKC's brain trust and our own up until this point has been nothing sort of shocking.
Thats a lot for him and he's injury prone. SKC made a killing. Cinci over paid for Hagglund and possibly drove up the price for players at the moment. If we were good we could afford to sell players but we aren't and we don't have players anyone wants.
I went to a game there once to watch Dempsey while in London on business. Sat right behind a pole. Yeah, awesome stadium!
Sitting right behind a pole doesn’t sound great, hard to know if you’re being serious or not, but seeing Fulham during the Demsey era would’ve been a joy. I’ve only been to one game over there, the old Upton Park, West Ham vs Man City back when Reyna was still with City.
Well I did very much enjoy the experience and it was quite memorable. And the atmosphere was fantastic. But there was a reason that ticket was still available! The stadium may look quaint on TV, but in person, it's an old stadium with flaws. I'd rather see Fulham play in Avaya .
Makes sense, looks great on TV though, and located right along the Thames which sounds nice...my hope is to get to Old Trafford one day, not sure if it will ever happen but that would be spectacular.
