We can also play Eriksson at forward (or Vako, though I think Eriksson is a better choice for the role) and then plug in TT or Hyka on the outside. So QA does not necessarily have to be the "third forward".
Yeah, just pointing out that we don't necessarily need to sign another player for that role as we have some "mid / forward" types and plenty of depth in midfield.
You may think I'm daft, but I think Quincy's pinball antics may actually mesh rather well with our upgraded MF and Danny. He would occupy a lot more of the defenders' attention than Wondo simply due to his frenetic pace and style. I would be most interested to see him on the field with Magnus, Vako, and Danny.
Good point and not one that I would have considered. The challenge would be whether his "pinball" effect causes more problems to the opponents more than his head down and poor passing cause to the Quakes build up.
I think Stahre is probably a bit intrigued with Quincy (like, what the heck is this guy doing! - not necessarily in a bad kind of way - more like a mix). If we are going to play fast counter, he works pretty well.
Given all the midfield depth (Thompson, Yueill, Hyka, Wehan, Calvillo, Alashe, Salinas, Felipe, Fuentes), I'm guessing the forward depth chart is Hoesen, Wondo, Vako, Magnus, Amarikwa And I doubt Stahre is all that "intrigued" by Amarikwa...
We'll see. At Häcken Stahre used what I would characterize as "physical" forwards - fast and / or tall, and that team played tons of long ball to the forwards. The reason I say he might be intrigued by Quincy is that Quincy is very good at winning and holding long balls. Only problem is that once he wins them he holds them for a long, long time .
I actually thought he would have been a vast improvement for the last 70 minutes. At least Amerikwa can win a ball and run, two things Wondolowski struggles with constantly. Edit: I meant last 20 minutes, after the 70th minutes.
I don't know, but, if there are, I am sure Discovery Channel will make a mining show of it. Iceland does punch well above its weight when it comes to producing soccer players, but, the European leagues seem to be pretty well tapped into that resource.
If I was an Icelander and had a choice between Freiberg, Sheffield, or San Jose I might choose the sunny option!
Thought this was interesting Starting in 2017, @MLS began disclosing all Allocation Money acquired & traded. @tutulismyname has been tracking it in Google Sheets, and I'm breaking down buyers & seller of Garber Bucks in @tableaupublic. To tell you the truth, I really can't stand Inter and never could..... That goes back to the days of Altobelli, Ronaldo, Zamorano, Vieri , Zanetti and today's Icardi...... I lived in Florence and did a little work for Fiorentina but I grew up as a Juve fan and still support them internationally to a point. I switched my allegiances switched to Roma when a friend of mine (whose brother lived in Santa Cruz CA) played for them in the 90's. I was heartbroken when Fiorentina's 31 year old captain Davide Astori died in his sleep last week though.
Andres Guardado dismisses playing for the Quakes but calls a move to MLS “attractive” Mexico midfielder Andres Guardado says his comment to San Jose Earthquakes center back Yeferson Quintana about having general manager Jesse Fioranelli reserve a place for him next season was only for good humor, but admitted a move to MLS is “attractive” in many ways. After being linked several times to numerous MLS clubs in the past years, El Tri’s captain thought of making a joke on the subject but did praise MLS’ recent Concacaf Champions League performances. “A joke, because for the past three, four years I’ve been rumored to be making a move to MLS,” El Tri’s captain told Quakes Epicenter after Mexico’s 3-0 victory against Iceland on Friday at Levi’s Stadium. “So, one more doesn’t hurt. It was only a joke.” “I’ve always said it, MLS is growing a lot,” he added. Every time they ask me about MLS, I say the same: it’s a league that is doing the right things. And today, they are showing it in the Concacaf Champions League, leaving Mexican teams out.” Guardado is 31, if he's ever going to come to MLS as more than a last stop before retirement, after this summer's World Cup would be the time...
