I read he was tied to Scott Gallagher but anyway it's good to see a 17 year old score two goals. He was also involved in this years U-17 qualifying rounds I believe. Oh well I'm sure he will get more money in Germany than any MLS club will offer.

Ben Arfa would be an amazing DP for us:

Can never have too many UCLA or Newcastle guys, so they say. :)

I'd rather have a center forward rather than yet another attacking mid.

I have always admired his talent, however, two things concern me.

    1) Has a reputation for being a head case.

    2) Attacking midfielders generally don't thrive under Kinnear. It would be like trying to grow a redwood in the Sahara.

Also 3), he doesn't track back, which would put him at loggerheads with kinnear.

Yes you are both right he's not a perfect fit for us. I don't care, he is an amazing talent. he's only 30 years old and still an elite player. He would be awesome to watch in this league. Maybe not quite giovinco numbers but definitely up there in that same category along with dos santos and piatti. He wasn't used much at PSG last season but he was 4th in Ligue 1 in goals scored in 2015/16 (and he did it as an attacking mid, not a striker!) 17 goals / 6 assists in that 2015/16 season.

Unless we can acquire or free up and international spot we won't be signing anyone who is not "American" or green card eligible.

If that's the case, how does that work with the stated plan to "wait until the summer to make big DP signings"?

Release Dawkins or Imperiale, problem solved. Neither of them contribute, and Imperiale probably couldn't get onto the field if he were the last player left on the team.

He's actually said that before, so maybe not so "breaking" but nice to know that the plan has not changed.

I know nothing about Perlyra.....not that it matters at this point, but is he a DP caliber of player?

He's a Uruguayan a-mid who plays in Russia. He has no Uruguay caps beyond U-20. He is another smallish a-mid and after watching some of his video highlights, I don't think he'd move the needle. I'm not even sure he's better than Hyka, and it is just a "more of the same" player, a smaller a-mid whom Dom will hesitate to play in the middle anyway, and so he'd just add to the logjam at outside mid.

I think we need a bigger body but reasonably fast center forward for a DP. That would be my choice, over a smaller a-mid who won't play in the center anyway under Dom.

also if your assessment is true....I sure hope they (Jesse/Quakes) weren't considering him for a DP position or DP type money......

So, you are saying Mauricio wouldn't have a Perayera of starting at a-mid?

I agree. He doesn't seem to be DP worthy. I have watched some of his highlights too. Can't say that anything really jumped out at me about his playing. Not all that fast, not necessarily great at taking people on, maybe a good passer?

So Chiumiento's contract just expired at Zurich. Five years since he last played in MLS, did well in Europe, now 32 years old. Wonder if he gets picked up by someone.
