This is actually about us soccer analysis - just to clarify. They breakdown all the games very well. I encourage any who enjoy soccer tactics to listen. I look forward to every episode. ( I am also not affiliated with them in any way! lol)

When I come across good US soccer analysis.. I want to shout it around. Sources have gotten better- but still rare enough that when I find really good sources.. I feel like celebrating and getting as many to partake as I can. ;-D

They are about the only soccer journalists that don’t make me gag on some Tow-the-line BS

Somewhere around the early 1990's several things happened to the way americans speak:

    1. The 'like' language virus entered mainstream culture. I remember teachers in college and high school who would kick you out for talking what was then referred to as 'valley girl.'

    2. Inflection points in the mainstream vocal patterns changed. The cadence, the treble, moved closer to what people used to call 'camp,' but now just refer to it as 'how everyone speaks.'

Long story short, I physically cannot listen to people who 'like' and 'camp light' in metrosexual cadence.

The English guy is ok. I like that they like US soccer and care about the players.

What? I don't hear that at all. I certainly wouldn't say that myself and my uncle, for example, sound markedly different. I grew up in California in the 90's, and he in the 50's and 60's. Sure, colloquialisms like "like" are prevalent, but our accents are basically the same...

I like them, but in small doses.

They do that "fake laughing/forced enthusiasm" thing a bit too much that you hear on morning zoo radio to make things sound more exciting (obviously they wouldn't do this, if it didn't work). You can hear them forcing laughter quite a bit. Really detracts from the analysis for me, which I agree can be good. I prefer the Top Drawer Soccer podcast that they do on youth, because the main guy is doesn't do the morning zoo thing.

Both TSS and TDS are miles better that the ESPN FC in analysis and Lalas's Stephen A. Smith-ish trolling podcast, We the people.

If you like them, Scuffed and 343 Podcast are often great, with less morning zoo forced laughs and solid to great analysis and insight.

Interesting...I listened to TSS for a year or two due to no other seemingly better options, but couldn't get over how "run of the mill" their thinking was. Nothing innovative, no criticism of the old Lions, just regurgitating ideas from Bruce/good ole boys club. Debates over Howard/Guzan, constant defense of MB, arguing for "experience" and "now not being the time for the younger guys!".

Stopped listening and haven't missed it.

Will certainly check on a few of these other options, though.

Maybe I just need to find someone from BS who, like me, saw through the BS of US Soccer over the last 2-4 years and start my own pod. And then get hired to run US Soccer.

I started listening after the qualifying failure and this is definitely not they vibe they had. Haven't listened recently though.
Haha my buddy and I have been discussing this.

That kinda furthers my point. Pretty easy to argue for new blood and squad rotation after that pathetic team missed the WC. Find me the pod that pushed for new GKs and a rotation based on form in central midfield prior to early October, and that's the one that I'll listen to!

Hey, could we do like some kinda crowd-podcast? Like, we could have rotating BS posters who argue over stuff? Or would that be dumb?

No, BS posters cannot be snarky on the fly. Editing would be a nightmare

yep. they defended klinsmann until the minute he was fired, they still defend bradley. its a good show, theyre likable and cover a decent amount but the show could be piped in as the background music at the chicago house.

I still see the same signs of “don’t go there” that are apparent with all of media on the sport. Unfortunately, it’s just still too small not to stand out and be completely blacklisted.
