Who do you think are the top eight teams in the Americas right now?? (ha ha... its top 8 cuz I couldn't think of two more very good teams to make it a "Top 10"). Anyway... My ranking would be: 1. River Plate (ARG) 2. Sao Paulo (BRA) 3. Chivas (MEX) 4. Atletico Paranaense (BRA) 5. Santos (BRA) 6. Banfield (ARG) .. Not thaaattt good, but showed a good game vs River 7. Liga Deportiva Universitaria de Quito (ECU) 8. Velez Sarsfield (ARG).. Didn't play in any international tournament this year, but are doing good in the Argentine league, and have already qualified for the Copa Sudamericana 2005 and Copa Libertadores 2006. I believe the top 2 (River and Sao Paulo) are the best 2 without a doubt. Chivas is also pretty good, but numbers 4-8 aren't the best teams ever.. they're good, but not as good as River Plate and Sao Paulo.
I will not rank in there LDU.... last weekend they took 5 on the chin! to Me there were most disapointing team in copa 2005...........................Boca should be there, still!
Hmmmmm.. I don't think so. Are you talking about the same Boca that is 16th in the Argentine Championship?? The same Boca that shouldn't have made it to quarter finals of the Copa, but made it.. but turned out losing 4-0 to Chivas??? The same Boca that even their own fans don't support (only had 2,000 people at the stadium on Sunday vs. Quilmes)??? I say Boca=#6,852
1-São Paulo (BRA) 2-River Plate (ARG) 3-Santos (BRA) 4-LDU (EQU) 5-Boca Jrs (ARG) 6-Chivas (MEX) 7-Velez (ARG) 8-America de Cali (COL)
Almost 2 years later, who would you say are the top 8 now? Here is my list (in no specific order): River Boca Velez Estudiantes (Haven't impressed me in the first few matches of the Clausura, but still have great players in the squad and won the Argentine league just months ago.) Sao Paulo Internacional Colo Colo Nacional (URU)
1 - Internacional 2 - São Paulo 3 - Boca 4 - Chivas 5 - Santos 6 - Pachuca 7 - Velez 8 - Libertad 8 -
Im new here but hey here goes!! 1 - Sao Paulo 2 - Boca Jrs 3 - River Plate 4 - Internacional 5 - Club America 6 - Estudiantes 7 - Velez Sarsfield 8 - Chivas Its hard to rate when some teams do not play in Copa Lib.
1. Boca Juniors 2. Sao Paolo 3. River Plate 4. Velez Sarsfield 5. Estudiantes 5. Nacional 6. Colo Colo 7. LDUQ I'm not the expert to go to when it comes to anything outside the tops tier teams so ill leave it at that
No Nacional, Internacional, or Colo Colo, yet you include America? NOTE: For those new to the thread, the first 4 posts are from 2005.. The rest are current (from 2007).
What a Joke...you dont know shite about soccer to include GREMIO that only beats 3rd division teams...and not to Include Inter World Champs! And Sao Paulo??? Please....
1-São Paulo 2-Internacional 3-Santos 4-River Plate 5-Estudiantes 6-Boca Junior 7-America MEX 8-LDU I wouldn't take out of the list LDU for its last result in el Campeonato Ecuatoriano. Defense sucked and got 4 scores in but they where able to make 3 and playing away. I think the team is finally coming together and will show against Colo Colo. I am very confident. Both Escalada and Salas scored. Salas is back! And honestly, there is no specific order. they are just my best candidates right now.
let me see Internacional = current Libertadoers Champs, 2nd place in last Brasileirao and WORLD Champions defeating barcelona america ???? took 4x0 a$$ kicking by the same barcelona and never won anything worth mentioning.. tricolor your list is plain STUPID!
ohhh I just realized that tricolor was talking about america de cali, ahahaha they are even worse than the america from mexico (and they suck really bad) ahahahahaha tricolor is recalcado because of this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ6y_Nb6DFE
That list was from a few years ago CG. His current list does have America. IMO, Chivas is a better Mexican team than them..
Re: Top 10 AS OF 2007 * I'M USING ONLY THE AVERAGE SUCCESS OF THE PAST 2+ YEARS (2005 - FEB 28TH 2007) TO GAUGE A CLUB'S RANKING : 1- INTER (BRA) (CL CHAMPS 06 * DECENT START TO CL 07') 2- SAO PAOLO (BRA) (CL CHAMPS 05 *STRONG START TO CL 07') 3- BOCA (ARG) (COPA SUD CHAMPS 05, QF CL '05 - Strong Arg campaigns) 4- PACHUCA (MEX) (CSUD CHAMPS 06, RD OF 16 CL '05) 5- RIVER (ARG) (CL - 05 SEMIS, STRONG START TO CL 07' + Arg campaigns) 6- CHIVAS (MEX) (SEMIS OF CL 05-06, CHAMPS IN MEXICO APERT 06) 7 - ESTUDIANTES (ARG) LATEST ARG CHAMPS 8 - SANTOS (BRA) - ALWAYS A CONTENDER - STRONG START TO CL 07'
Hum, just wondering: are all Internacional fans imbeciles? Or only the ones who are in this thread? Maybe they are mad because people keep putting São Paulo above them and not giving them much credit. You guys still have a long way to reach São Paulo's fame and greatness. Sorry. Truth hurts sometimes.
América de Cali has never played the World Club Cup, and certainly they haven't played Barcelona (Spain) either.
1-Internacional 2-River Plate 3-Santos 4-River Plate 5-Estudiantes 6-Colo Colo 7-Sao Paulo 8-Boca Juniors Honourable mentions-LDU and Bolivar(surprised me with the recent 2-1 win against Chivas)

I'm still wondering what River Plate has done recently to merit being in the top 5 let alone ahead of Boca as alot of people are putting them. The last time they won anything was in 03/04.
Let me explain something to you. I don't think you understand how things work. Internacional IS THE NUMBER ONE untill the final minute of Libertadores finals, that only in the event Inter is not the champion once again. We are still the number one team in America. That's what it means to be champions.
