    Re: touche

Haven't gotten to the end of this thread, so this may already be addressed...

I saw Foudy in person at the USA v Norway game a couple weeks back. She didn't go the full 90, but she appeared very much fit and in shape for that game. I was surprised by her appearance, actually. I think Heinrich's has ratcheted up the fitness level requirements and the general competitiveness for spots on this team.

And yes, among current US Women's players, Foudy probably has as much power over the women's game in this country as anyone. I think Mia's more visible, but I don't think she wants the role that Foudy has carved out for herself.

Can't believe no one's said U-17 coach John Ellinger.

I think he deserves a lot of credit for what he did with Donovan, Beasley, etc., to say nothing of how important his work will be building for the next WCs.

The "It's in the Net" Guy is Dave Johnson. He does DC United games on local cable. He's also the radio voice of the Washington Wizards and is the weekend sports guy on the local Fox affiliate in DC.

Did anybody say Cobi JOnes? I didn't know he is the most recognizable and popular player by media standards. The entire Nats bus lets him off first to get the media out of the way becasue they always ask for him.

Even if it's ignorance...it gets him a lot of exposure nationwide.
