The article shouldn't say "a senior national team on course, at the time, to qualify for the World Cup." The only time Uganda led their group was after beating Egypt on August 31, 2017, which lasted for 5 days until Egypt took the lead back by beating Uganda on September 5. Even if there were negotiations with Uganda during those 5 days, I still think it's misleading to say that Uganda was on course to qualify.
