Some sunshine for all you jerkwads. Happy Black Monday Day! 11-15-2010The Crew elected not to exercise an option on Guillermo Barros Schelotto's contract following the 2010 season, as part of a significant overhaul of the roster. He subsequently returned to Argentina for his final season of professional soccer.#CrewSC#Crew96 pic.twitter.com/9e47UTtBUd— Columbus Crew History ⭐⭐ (@Crew96History) November 15, 2017 Today marks the anniversary of one of the most difficult days in Crewdom. Club legends like Leandre Griffit, Jason Garey, Duncan Oughton, Gino Padula, Frankie Hejduk, and Guillermo Barros Schelotto, many of whom were members of one of the most successful squads in league history, saw their contracts declined. Damn, that day hurt. The thread: https://www.bigsoccer.com/threads/crew-declines-options-on-schelotto-hejduk-others.1590252/ ALL HAIL LORD GUILLERMO! *EDIT* Relevant gif:
Happy Birthday to the legend who brought us an Open Cup and Supporters Shield. The most successful coach in club history, Greg Andrulis!
This imposter has had 11 more games, 2 less trophies, and a worst winning percentage than Greg. What a sham.
How do you define success? The one with the most wins? I really enjoyed being out in LA for MLS Cup 2008. I am so glad GA was not there. We probably would have backpassed our way to defeat. Or had Tony Sanneh take a PK.
What's interesting is that Gregg will become our most tenured coach this season, moving past Bobby right at the end of the season.
Yes, the numbers include his stint as interim coach, as well as the records for playoffs and the U.S. Open Cup. I should probably add CCL, too. The whole thing is here: Columbus Crew Head Coach Records. I could have messed something up, so there's that to consider.
Understood. I would hate to pull a Steve Harvey and give the crown to GGGGGGGGGGGGGG without first checking on the numbers. Also, Andrulis sucked.
There has yet to be a coach in Columbus Crew history who has won more major trophies than Wright State University Athletics Hall of Famer Greg Andrulis.
I ventured back into the old threads. I would say you have changed your tune on the bearded bastard, but consistently you do so throughout the same year. [2004] "i am sick. i hope andrulis is fired tomorrow. that game left me more angry than the dc game. he should be fired this week. we can't afford a loss to chicago." -- "Greg, you are pathetic." -- "Yeah, but it will all pay off when Greg lifts the Cup in LA this fall. That joy will make up for some frustrating midseason results. This is a championship caliber team." Narrator: They did not win the Cup. and then... "Let me start by saying, Fire Andrulis." I am left to think you either 1) married into Andrulis' family or 2) are ludicrous to be ludicrous. Also, we have been going back-and-forth at each other for years. Will peace ever exist between us?
Sometimes performance art is maddening, sometimes it is breathtaking. Do not question the performance artist, question your own perceptions.
This level of obsession is something. But no worries, I'm a historian as well. If I perform at all, it is in service of history. A history in which this club employed some coaches who needed less than 155 games to win more meaningful trophies than that Carolina Challenge Cup.
World class research skills I use in service for my world class peers on a world class message board about a world class soccer team.
I'm sure I speak for most people here by saying that only you are world class at 8:00 am. I'm not world class until at least noon.
#OTD 2002: #CrewSC reach the @USOpenCup Final with a dramatic 3-2 OT home win vs. KC Wizards. Down 2-0, @EdsonBuddle scored in 76th min. & John Wilmar Perez equalized in the 90th min & then a 108th min golden goal. This still may be my favorite Crew age that I attended in person. More so even than the Open Cup Final. Such an incredible comeback in front roughly 173 people.
