Bale is probably booking the next flight out of Madrid.

    Ha :D. Great choice.

Only question we have is how he deals with the big egos on day to day basis.

He might not have to, I get the feeling the club might just blow up the team and go full rebuild. Especially that front three.

Curious how this impacts Bale, Ronaldo and Benzema? I don't think Lopetegui has enough history at club level to really draw any conclusions from. Obviously players like Isco, Asensio must be ecstatic right now.

Timing is interesting, as it puts more pressure on him to do well in the World Cup. The dude must have confidence to officially take on Madrid while prepping for such a huge tournament at the same time. Hope he ends up being a good choice.

Casemiro had a great season at Porto under him as well. Dunno what this hiring means for Bale and Benz. Benz will stay even in a reduced role, I feel. Bale's future might depend on Ronaldo's decision.

Not a bad choice at all, especially considering all the young Spanish talent we currently have. I approve. I hope he takes Guti, Raul or Xabi as one of his assistants.

He was awful at Porto despite having huge financial backing for those two years. Every big signing failed. Zero titles, lost his mind with the media and was fired by Pinto da Costa.

Has done better with the Spanish NT but I am not overly enthusiastic with this hiring.

I think Bale is toast. First year at Porto, he signed 7 Spanish players. I don't think Bale fits the profile of what he wants in his wide players. Benzema and Ronaldo depend more on the players than him tbh.

Yup, agreed, my thoughts exactly. But I think it makes sense to announce it now rather than have it come out during the WC and become even a bigger distraction. Get the questions out of the way.

But to be honest, very shocked about this as there were literally no links aside from a few of us speculating about him here. Guess Florentino reads these boards.

I think Bale doesn't fit. One of him or Ronaldo has to go and, actually, I don't mind which. I think Asensio is ready to take one of those spots.

Benzema fits the style of play more than either of them IMO.

Flo is a ninja. No leaks in this day and age? I really like Florentino right now.

Won't be worried about signings much as we have a good track record and also best talents are available for RM. Hope rest goes more like his Spain youth stints.

I'm not sure anyone expected Zidane to leave after winning the champions league, and I really doubt Lopetegui expected to get such an offer before the World Cup even started

He was also the coach of that great U-21 squad with DDG, Isco, Dani Carvajal, Koke, Thiago, etc. that won the Euros in 2013.

I hope both of the egotrippers go and we get Asensio and other Spanish talents to play .
I mean look at Barca , their most promising talent just joined watford lol .
Meanwhile we are here with Kovacic , isco , asensio , vazquez , maybe Odriozola , dani ceballos , etc...
We need a coach focusing on the bright future we have .

Hierro holding a RM jersey with a 2020 on it behind his back.

I wonder if Ramos and some of the Spanish players pushed for this given some of the names that were leaking out.
