Yes, that's what they call the reserve squad. They actually played the full squad of Dynamo Moscow and got spanked 7-1.

    Tillman played the 1st half:

Aufstellung FCB-Amateure: Weinkauf (46. Rössl) - Obermair, Feldhahn, Awoudja, Türkkalesi - Dorsch, Tarnat (46. Strein (83. Wintzheimer)) - Hingerl, Fein, Tillman (46. Lange) - Wintzheimer (46. Crnicki)

    Tore: 0:1 Lutsenko (16.), 0:2 Kalugin (27.), 0:3 Lutsenko (29.), 0:4 Beciraj (34.), 0:5 Temnikov (48.), 1:5 Crnicki (52.), 1:6 Beciraj (54.), 1:7 Ionov (80.)

Another random note: Aufstellung FCB-Amateure is translated by Google as Installation FCB Sex

ah got it. I did read it was the full squad. Even though they gave up 5 goals in the first half, it's got to be good learning for Tillman.

They're so deep that they rarely have to call in a player that's not right at the age limit. Their U20 world cup team was IIRC all 97s, so there's no need for them to call a 99.

And their U-19's are 98's. I'm pretty sure there's no tournament for 99's this year for Germany.

Yes, the German FA likes to keep the age cohorts together, one reason that's always cited is to give young players enough rest. They have enough to do with their duties at their clubs and their school, Not having them play international tournaments each summer seems like a good idea. Also I guess it gives chances to more players if you only play with guys from 1 birth cohort instead of always playing with the best players born in 2 different years

Every year there are Euros for the U17 and the U19 national teams. For the coaches it's generally a two-year cycle. They take over as U16 or U18 coaches and have a year where they only play friendlies. There they test out quite a large pool of players, so that when they then move up to the U17 or U19 they know their squad when the qualifying matches start, leading up to (hopefully) the tornament in the summer. It's at least very rare that a German youth player plays two U17/U19 tournaments in a row (maybe it happened sometimes but I can't think of one off the top of my head)

Only two players, another keeper due to their first two keepers being unavailable and a LB who's technically now a first team player (also already made the match day squad in the league), so its not like its that many players, and Tillman's being left out.

Seems odd they are only bringing 18 players on a preseason tour. I believe they brought Tillman last year. And I misread the original article -- they are going to Asia this year.

An article written by Benjamin Heckner on Eurosport detailing Bayern's brightest young talents had this to say about Timmy (translated from german):

"Timothy Tillman The German-American is currently perhaps the greatest talent from the Munich talent forge. The native of Nuremberg is a classic 10s and changed to the Isar in 2015. At that time the Bavarians passed a prized 500,000 euros for the Edeltechniker to Greuther Fürth, which drove "Kleeblatt" president Helmut Hack to the white glow: "When Bayern comes, the mind sets out in many!" FC Barcelona have also extended their feelers to Tillman, but the Bayern blocked. In the final of the German A-Junior Championship, Tillman became a tragic hero when he missed the last Bayern penalty in the final against Dortmund and BVB won the title. Tillman's possible role remains in the Bayern squad. There is a classic game maker in the system of coach Carlo Ancelottinicht. Tillman would have to move to the central midfield or to the wings. Eurosport assessment: Tillman has the ability to get a grip on the Bavarians. Under Carlo Ancelotti, however, there was not yet a classic ten, which could be changed by the commitment of James Rodríguez. Uli Hoeneß is considered a big fan of Tillmans. He is said to have used a transfer of the franc even during his term of office."

idk just thought it might be an interesting read.
