Tillmann has already played for the German U19s in official UEFA games, which serve as qualifiers for the FIFA U20 World Cup.

He can show up to a US U20 friendly camp if he wants, but he can never play for the US U20s. He's eligible to switch to the US, of course, but you can't play for two countries at the same international youth level.

it's why if he really wants to switch he's actually better off waiting until after the U20 WC and not before. Can play in both U19 EC and U20 WC and who knows maybe that'll convince him to stick it out longer with Germany or maybe not. He's still eligible for the 2019-2021 U21 as well as the 2020 Olympics.

not like your youth level determines whether you'll make the seniors anyways. For a player only 19 and currently in the reserves/4th division, it's way too early to give up.

but of course it's his decision on which to country to play for.

Regardless of how Richie actually handled it, it apparently left a bad taste in the family’s mouth, so it wasn’t done properly.

Someone should tell the good people at FC Liefering that you don't have to put a comma between a first and last name if you're putting the first name first. ;)

I've noticed the recent trend of Timothy being on the bench. The last game before the break he was on the bench, then majority of friendly games he's on the bench followed by the 1st game after the break as well. And with an Summer 2018 expiring contract not sure what will happen. Does he have an extension clause in his contract or will he leave in the Summer?

I’m confused. Is he or is he not switching to the U.S. Got very worried today because I did not see him in both the senior team or U-20 rosters which the report said he was to be in

Assume that the comments about him changing to the US were premature. He would have to file a one-time switch to move to the US, so him continuing to accept German calls makes sense if he hasn't decided yet.

weren't people saying that Timothy might not even be eligible to play for the US at the U20 WC? So if that's the case, sticking with Germany makes sense, might get to play U19 EC and the U20WC.

Tillman is nowhere near ready or deserving a senior NT call up neither for Germany nor the US.

Yes, exactly. I suppose it's possible that someone might have tried to argue that the previous stage of U19 UEFA qualifying was too preliminary to count, but I don't think anyone actually did argue that that, and in any case at the stage he just got called up for I would assume there's no argument.

At this point it would pretty much need to be MNT or nothing, but it feels like a moot point until Germany stops calling him up -- at least until this U19/U20 cycle ends. (I don't really see the U23s as an option for most overseas players -- who knows, maybe if we actually qualify for the Olympics it's different.)
