I would like to officially nominate the NY Red Bulls as a team that will be in "contention" for the Spoon this upcoming season. Too many changes at once--too hard for the team to absorb all at once. This team is going to take time to get back to respectability.
I would say NYFC, I find their expansion badly planned and will struggle support wise and player wise. My least favorite ran NY metro area pro club right now. But i don't live near New York or even like New York so im happy they are making things bad for themselves.
While hisotrically expansion teams usually have a rough first year--Orlando has given the impression of being an organization that has its act together.
By the way, by my projection by the Most Recent Results, Colorado Rapids will win the Wooden Spoon in 2015:
9 players who previously played together and both DP's playing from day 1 (baring any injuries). Also expecting big crowds unlike NYCFC which will help with creating a intimidating atmosphere, playing in a quarter full baseball stadium wont be intimidating.
awesome---the SS was also created by the fans and then later adopted by the league--hopefully this will follow the same path. I cant wait to see a "spoon scudetto" on MLS team jerseys.
that is truly a large beautiful spoon out of respect for this large beautiful trophy, the supporter's group that have posession of the spoon should not be allowed to destroy it at the end. In addition there should be room on the trophy to put little plaques memorializing the teams that have won the spoon.
There's something cathartic about burning (or otherwise destroying) the spoon. There's something wonderfully punishing about forcing fans of terrible teams to make their own derogatory trophy.
Remembered this awesome picture with DC United Logo and their 3 Wooden Spoons Scudetti... The image link is apparently broken now (@tigersoccer2005), mind repost again for our enjoyment? Thanks!
I made that, but sadly I can't find the original. If DC loses this weekend, I might start work on a new one with four spoons.
Chicago could win their second consecutive Wooden Spoon. No club has ever won consecutive Wooden Spoons or even two Wooden Spoons in three years. The closest together Wooden Spoons for a club are San Jose in 1997 and 2000 and D.C. in 2010 and 2013.
Great Job Andi.......Oh wait he could careless if we win the Wooden Spoon or the SS. He just doesn't care. It's time MLS (Mr. Graber) to do something about this.
Could?!? You make it sound like it is not a categorical certainty. Have you not watched the performances of the 2016 Chicago Fire? Oh, wait, of course not. Nobody is watching the Fire. Hell, even at Toyota Park, no one is watching the Fire. We are way too occupied with raccoons, rubber dicks and making fun of Mr. Andrew Hauptman and Nelson Rodriguez (often combing all of these things). Last night the announced "attendance" was a laughable 15,883. The actual attendance was a completely and totally dreadful 3,000-4,000. The Wooden Spoon? It's our, bitches!
It's ALL ours......Back to Back, first time that's happened. I'd say that it's bothering our owner, but he'd have to care about the team, for it to bother him. FVCK YOU, Andi.......... Will be going for the "three peat" next year.
