Can everyone just drop the Player / League comparison? It gets old and nothing gets accomplished. It’s tiresome. Let’s focus on Weah, please! An 18 yr. old American scored, on his debut, for Celtic. That’s a dream start. I’ve waited almost a lifetime for that! We should be talking about that rather than debating the past successes and/or failures of Yanks in the SPL.
The point is, it's vastly more mediocre when there's an American on the pitch, like Johnsen, and his six/seven goals a season.
It's also called "moving the goalposts", but that's neither here nor there. Here's how it goes down: You: American players have historically struggled in Scotland. Me: No, here are a bunch of guys who did fine, and some players you list as bad were actually not bad. You: BMJ only scored 6 goals, that's failure. Me: That was 4th for his team, and he had as many goals as he did assists, that means he was an effective offensive weapon. You: Strikers score goals, let's pretend that assists don't matter, the top scorer was a winger, and the guy they brought in next year was super good. Me: You used "league" stats earlier, then brought in "all comps" because Lafferty has the unusual distinction of performing almost as well in his 30 league appearances as he did for his 9 cup appearances. You: You must be crazy! No, not crazy, I just know how these stats-based arguments go. You've tried to constrain the parameters of our conversation farther and farther away from your original premise.
And none from Choupo Moting. What a signing he was. Knocked in one league goal. One in the cup tourney. Definitely has some pics of Tuchel or his wife.
Lulz. This thread is vastly more terrible now that you found it. Newsflash: none of us care about this crap you’re harping on.
You genuinely don't make sense. Why would I bother purposefully "changing" to all competitions? Johnsen's all competitions tally only added an extra goal? You're overthinking this so much. I don't know why you're obsessed with Bjorn, but he was rubbish in Scotland. He's known as a flop by the Hearts fans. A six/seven goal season will do that to you. The only American players that were good in Scotland were Reyna, Boca, Hyndman at Rangers. Edu was mediocre, Hyndman at Hibs was mediocre. The rest failed. Zelalem couldn't cut it in the second tier. Kitchen was released after one season. Beasley made 20 starts in three years. Bedoya played a total of 5 matches, minutes wise. Johnsen scored less goals than a wingback. Cervi couldn't get a game for Celtic.
Alright, I'm just going to get off the hook now, sorry for getting baited so hard guys. Back to Weah-scheduled programming.
There have been a few players from tbe states that have done well for Rangers. I will give credit where it's due but I predict Weah will not enjoy Scotland. Even though he is quality. The wee teams there are hammer throwers and he does not have any meat on him at all. If he does not get hurt it will be good practice for CONCACAF.
Hell no to dreads. Beckerman had the rare ability to walk into any room anywhere in the world and have the worst looking hair.
I'm definitely not the sensitive one on here. Jesus. Check some of the posts. The "Stop being so mean about American soccer player" type posts. Some of the people are like triggered BTS fans on twitter. Listen, I'm sorry the majority of you fanboy over Americans abroad, to the point you think Alejandro Bedoya was "decent" at Rangers, but I'm just here to set the record straight. Bring a bit of reality to proceedings. Anyway let's get back to Timothy Weah. I predict he'll hit at least double figures.
I dunno you seem really triggered. Maybe this place isn't for you? If you have any insight then share it otherwise ******** off back to wherever it is you regularly post.
Jesus, I wouldn't want to mess with a man who censors his own swears. What kind of swear word were you censoring anyway? 8 letters. Intriguing. Anyway, stop going off topic.
So great to see Weah get a nice goal in his opener. Hope he can work his way into the starting 11 at some point. God bless the "ignore" function, pretty extreme need for it here in Scottland.
Oh good. The guy who doesn't even know how many game Edu started for Rangers is back to drop a wee bit of knowledge - and I mean wee in the literal sense. How lucky for us all.
