Delaney is their team captain and engine, so he is their most important player ... he will start and play 90 minutes in every game unless he is injured ...though this was not among his best performances he was solid as usual, though he seemed a bit tired at the end ... in the EPL they are used to a very high pace for 90 minutes, while this is not the case in the Danish league, so not much of a surprise there ... being used to a constant high pace and having the better keeper is the only things that favor a team like Leicester in a game against this present FCK team, which is a level better than the Midtjylland team that eliminated Southampton and won at home against Manchester United in last years Europa Cup ....

    Leicester (ENG) ............... 6 < 7-6 > 13
    FC Porto (POR) ................ 6 < 9-3 > 10
    FC København (DEN) .... 6 < 7-2 > 9

    Club Brugge (BEL) ............ 6 < 2-14> 0

Club Brugge vs. FCK , 0-2

Unfortuately FCK did not progress in CL, but on the other hand will be among the seeded in the next round of the Europa League ... in the home match against Porto, both the FCK top strikers Cornelius and Santander were injured and out, with a 0-0 draw as the result... still with 0-0 at home and a 1-1 result away against Porto, FCK would have progressed on away goals, if FCK beat Brugge in their last game and Porto did not manage to beat Leicester ... FCK had no problem beating Brugge in Belgium, with Delaney not only being the man behind the first FCK goal, but also close to adding a 3rd and doing a great job all through the match as you can also see in the extended highlights below ... but unfortunately Leicester had aleady won the group and were fielding their reserves against Porto, and lost 0-5 ... but as written, it's probably also better for Denmark and FCK to progress to the Europa League where they are among the top seeded and so should be able to collect more points and progress even further, inspite the winter break ...

Guess it won't really matter for Delaney because he'll be with Werder Bremen in January.

True... though it has now been confirmed that Everton made a bid on Delaney that Werder Bremen has refused, even before he has moved to Germany ... but I guess he wont be staying there for long, if he become an instant success in the bundesliga :

Unlike it's the case with the USA, Denmark is not a country with a mix of lots of different cultures and people living there, calling themselves Danes ... being a Dane is more like being part of a small exclusive tribe ... and when you feel part of the culture and tribe, there is no way you would ever consider playing for some other country, if you have even a tiny chance of playing for the Danish NT ... so it's a "tribal" thing ... just like it is with Scarlett johansson, who was born in the USA, hardly know a word of Danish, but her father is Danish, so she feel part of the "tribe", has a Danish citizenship and travel nowhere without her Danish passport ...

    Went 90:

    SUMMARY

SV Werder: Zetterer - S. García, Sané (76’ Kainz), Verlaat - Zander, Delaney, Fritz (C), Bauer - Schmidt (46’ Gnabry) - Pizarro (82’ J. Eggestein), Jóhannsson

Karlsruher SC: Orlishausen (46’ Vollath) - Kinsombi (46’ Kom), Kempe (46’ Thoelke), Figueras (46’ Marc. Mehlem), Bader (46’ Sallahi) - Prömel (46’ Marv. Mehlem), Stoppelkamp (46’ Mavrias), Yamada (46’ Rolim), Barry (46’ Torres) - Diamantakos (46’ Batmaz), Vujinovic (46’ Fahrenholz)

    Goals: 0-1 Vujinovic (34'), 1-1 Jóhannsson (82')

    Assisted Johannsson on his goal.

In the second half, Johannsson came close to equalising in the 70th minute but was denied by the post. Eight minutes before the final whistle however, the American made no mistake, as he headed in a deserved equaliser from a Thomas Delaney cross. SVW’s new signing grabbed an assist to cap off a good appearance in a Werder shirt.

Delaney unfortunately got a head injury and was subbed out around 9 minutes into the 2nd half in Werder Bremens 2-0 Bundesliga away win against Mainz ... but before his misfortunate injury, he had looked good and scored an excellent free-kick goal that you can find here :

    http://ekstrabladet.dk/sport/fodbol...paa-baare-nu-faar-delaney-stor-haeder/6541612

... and he even made it to Kickers 'Elf des Tages' (Bundesliga 'Team of the Week') for his first half performance :

    Going for intimidation:

    https://www.werder.de/en/news/news/werder-bremen-news/20162017/kurzpaesse/kurzpaesse-06032017/

His appearance alone is enough to terrify opponents. Thomas Delaney, who has been known for his imposing presence and no-nonsense tackles since his arrival in the Bundesliga, now has an additional characteristic with which to inspire fear into his opponents: a mask! The Dane looked like evoked comparisons to Zorro and Batman whilst he trained for the first time with his new mask on Sunday. Whether Leverkusen will have to account for the masked man in green and white has not yet been determined. Delaney will first test out his new acquisition on the training ground with his own teammates…

Delaney just keep impressing in the German Bundesliga .... for the 2nd and 3rd time he made it to Kickers 'Elf des Tages' (Bundesliga 'Team of the Week') in round 25 for his performance in the 3-0 home win against Leipzig :

    http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...iga/2016-17/25/elf-des-tages-am-spieltag.html

.... and also in round 26 this weekend, where he was man of the match, scoring a hat-trick in the 5-2 away win in Freiburg :

    http://www.kicker.de/news/fussball/...iga/2016-17/26/elf-des-tages-am-spieltag.html

..... which also made Kicker award him the unusual high grade 1 rating (World class) and made him 'Spieler des Tages' (Bundesliga 'Player of the Week') :

3 goals/1 assist. That's 1 hell of a performance for a midfielder. He's not known for scoring is he?

He has never before scored a hat-trick or more than one goal in a game while playing for FCK in Denmark... but he is playing a bit more attacking minded role in the Bundesliga... though, to take on a more attacking minded role for a club at the bottom of a stronger league and still be a huge instant success, is more than impressive ...

Yes ... Delaney has become a key player for Denmark and also scored the first goal in yesterdays 4-0 trashing of Poland :

Denmark has managed to qualify for the last two U-21 Euro finals (+ the Olympics) in a row, not even fielding their best talents, which has never happened before, so Denmark has lots of talent and young regular starters in the Spanish La Liga, German Bundesliga and English PL at the moment, so it was only a matter of time before Eriksen, Delaney and the other younger players finally were going to "grow up" and show their worth for the NT ...
