http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Delaney 91' First team player. Though looks to be one of Denmark's top talents.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Good find. I have no idea what he's saying, but here's a video on him. [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=em64WEKQwwc"]YouTube - Superligaspiller fra Niels Brock.mov[/ame]
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen I've had this guy on my "watch list" for years now. Transfermarkt has been saying he's part-American for a while, and for all I know that's where Wiki got its info. But I've never been able to confirm this in any way, and several e-mails to FCK have gone unanswered.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Still, we don't have any idea where these databases get their information (often, it seems to be from each other) and I've seen too many cases where a guy got listed when he shouldn't have been. I'd say we should keep looking -- hopefully we hear from the player, his agent, a family member, U.S. Soccer or some enterprising journalist at some point.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Delaney made the bench for Copenhagen's Champions league match today. His full name is Thomas Joseph Delaney, which doesn't sound very Danish to me. He probably has at least one foreign parent and hopefully they're American. He kinda looks like a certain Scandinavian American footballer. Whats really intriguing to me is that he hasn't appeared for any Danish youth sides since August even though the u21s have played friendlies since then(they're already qualified as host). Maybe we can offer some playing time and get him to switch assuming hes even eligible.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen searched for the name + "amerikanske forældre" ... nothing. Add "US-amerikaner", you may get Clarence Goodson results. This page has birth places of all (presumably) Danish footballers, with Delaney listed as a Copenhagen native. http://www.fmdanmark.dk/debatforum/show_topic.php?start=0&end=10&id=7626
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Why get excited about a player who makes the bench for Copenhagen?
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Considering he could be ours, why not? Not too many of our guys got the chance to play Chelsea at the age of 19. In the Champions League no less
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Who's "excited?" The poster was simply stating a fact. And if the kid is an American citizen (seems like this is a little unclear)..........then he's certainly worth tracking on these boards.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Hopefully Rongen makes a stop in Copenhagen while making his European and South American rounds, pre-qualification.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen I call dibs on next thread title: "Thomas Delaney - Is that FCKer even a Yank?"
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen LOVE IT. hahahaha, hit my desk at work in approval, or laughter. I think over in the youth forums this kid has been thought to have been eluded to by Rongen as one of the other kids who could be called in with split loyalties/nationalities. But as far as I know, we've never confirmed him by name. forza inter
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Since this thread has only just begun, I vote for an immediate title change.
Re: Thomas Delaney @ F.C. Copenhagen Yeah, I'm not passing up an opportunity to use that thread title. I just hope this guy turns out to be part American (and not Irish or Canadian or something) so we don't have to close the thread.
Played against our U21s today. Came on late in the game and had a few touches and passes that suggested he has a good left foot. Commentator on ESPN said he was American in some way, with possible Irish heritage too.
He's playing for Copenhagen against Hannover in the Europa League right now. But the German commentator refered to him as a "Dane with Irish heritage"
Irish? We'll take the ******* and the *********, but not the Irish. *just a test to see how old this forum is these days
http://www.sportsfanplus.dk/nyheder/fodbold/ansigtet-pa-fck’s-nye-strategi/ Apparently his dad is American. I can read Danish so it's all good. And by that I mean Google can read Danish.
