Not that a summit has been proposed, but . . . Do you guys actually dislike the idea of a mid-east summit that involves Bush? If so, why? We used to meet with the Reds all of the time.
It really should've been utterly clear that I was discussing internal dialogue. I mean... the entirety of my post was about domestic policy. Just to note... It's about having our phones being tapped. Look. We've got a Constitution for a reason. And Reeps are just as concerned as Dems are w/ the government spying on its own citizens. Sadly, since 9/11 DC -- both Reeps AND Dems -- have been more about retaining/gaining power instead of serving the citizens. And far too many Republicans didn't want to go up against a(n incompetent) president b/c he had approval ratings in the stratosphere. Again: I blame the dems just as much as the Reeps on this. But Bush has pushed through some scary shit that go directly against our civil liberties. Hate the game, not the playa' in this case. The Reeps played the game, and now are paying the price.
So do I, obviously. But we both know you don't expect them to do what you think is best for the country.
All the alleged scary shit you speak of has not affected you or anyone you know or anyone they know. People were all up in arms about big brother when the the Bank Secrecy Act of 1970 allowed the Government to do some of the things the Patriot Act now allows government to do. Guess what? Life went on all the same.
I am not quite sure what you think i think is best for the Country. We are in a position where we probably need to raise taxes. The Republicans were awful and I understand the need to undue some of their mess. If the Democrats can find a way to fix the health care crisis, fix Iraq, help fix the national debt then I am all for them having power. I really hope they can succeed. I am a little skepticle but they are saying all the right things at this point.
