He liked my instagram comment a few months ago when I told him I hope he gets called up for a USMNT game one day . Perhaps we badger his social media page like we once did on Jermaine Jones website to convince him switch to the USA.
"Come to the USMNT! Unlike Cameroon, when we go to WCs we make it out of group sometimes & France is never going to call you. What do you have to lose?"
Not the best sales pitch telling him France is never going to call.Your pitch should not be that you are the only non-African country interested in him. It should be all about how he would fit into a young squad chasing history, with a reminder or two of just how much money Bradley and Altidore make in MLS. You have to make him believe that you believe he is good enough to play for any nation in the world, while somehow managing to convince him that the United States is where he belongs. Not the easiest thing to do, but the guys it will work on are the guys I would like to get in our pool. The guys who only come to us because Germany/Mexico/France/Italy/etc are not interested are not going to help us accomplish a damn thing.
It's always been "Of course I'm flattered by the interest, but now is not the right time to be speaking about this. I'm focused on Reims, etc" Which is what you'd expect him to say. He's far down the depth chart for France and is certainly not going to Russia, but Reims are odds-on favourites for promotion and a good season in Ligue 1 next year could get him a big move and will see him being at least scouted by France for Euro 2020. Whatever his personal inclinations, his advisors will be urging to sit tight, be polite and see whether Les Bleus come calling over the next 18-22 months. If they don't, then will be the time to push him for a decision. In the meantime the best the USSF can do is stay in touch, let him know they're interested and offer him camp call-ups, and keep their fingers crossed.
I actually thought about writing a satirical piece yesterday about the need for the next president of US Soccer to establish a new position: the Director of Dual National Groveling & Ass Kissing. The problem is that I don’t think people would get that it’s a joke & probably would even think it’s a great idea
Which Nat speaks French, Bedoya? I wanted him invited when he had his first hot streak, even if he was raw and not ready. We need to be in position to get him on board if France doesn't make him a full national.
I think our biggest competition may be Cameroon. He wears his Cameroonian families name, I think it may be to honor a parent or grandparent, if memory serves.
Right, it was @ChuckMe92 who posted this French article. Wore his Cameroonian name for his mother and grandmother, wants to accompany the family business in Yaoundé...
Come on. You're not seriously saying they can't keep their fingers crossed correctly, are you? I mean, is there anything in their track record that could make you . . . Oh. I see
42' BUUUUUUUUT pour le #SDR, qui réalise le break !!! Sur un service de @PabloAChavarria, @Theosonsmith s'y reprend à deux fois pour tromper Gallon à bout portant ! 2-0 !!! 👏👏 pic.twitter.com/LODvm76Smb— Stade de Reims (@StadeDeReims) January 12, 2018 Starts and scores. Call him up
At least someone call and say hello!! Is there anything lost by gaining another American International player? Is there a rule as to how many capped players yr program can have? If not, why are we f&^%ng around.
Second-place Nîmes lose and drop to 10 points behind league-leading Reims. And remember, second place earns automatic promotion to Ligue 1 too.
