Not very easy to read this article from its Google Translation, but it says that Reims plan to rely on their young players this upcoming season. Siebatcheu is one of the names highlighted, along with what appeared to be Reims' top striker last season, Grejohn Kyei. Hopefully Reims can use a two-striker formation and start both of them, like they did in the most recent friendly.

Furthermore, Siebatcheu has been wearing the captain's armband this summer. The manager, David Guion, says he wants to "set an example" of Siebatcheu, who has been with Reims since he started in their academy at age 7, and embodies the values of Reims. "I take these responsibilities very seriously, " Siebatcheu says. "I was asked to take on more of the team. We young people must show that we deserve to be there. And like everybody here, we have the ambition to go up [to Ligue 1]."

Great! Exactly the formation I was hoping for. It's clear Reims were valuing Jordy in preseason, but I doubted they would bench Kyei considering how heavily they leaned on him last year when Jordy was on loan. Good to see them both starting.

Jordy went the full match and picked up a yellow card as Reims defeated fellow promotion contenders Nimes Olympique 1-0.

Here's also an interview with the manager, and he speaks briefly of Jordy.

    Translated:
Among the young people, we think of Jordan Siebatcheu, who had the captain's armband several times during the offseason ...

It is a boy who, in the second half, has performed. He has done good things with Chateauroux. He scored ten goals in one semester. It is on a good dynamic. Now he must do the same with the Stade de Reims. He is here from the football school and federates around him with the youngsters. He has a lot of character and he's really a boy I want to help.

I was in Reims last month and absolutely loved it. Picked up a scarf at their club shop, so here's to a good season.

Went 75' as Reims defeated Orleans 2-0. It's early, but Reims are so far living up to their goal of being a promotion contender. Interesting to note Kyei was benched for this match but Jordy started.

An American-born, 21-year-old, 6-foot-3 striker who is starting regularly for a prime contender for Ligue 1 promotion. Also a France U21/U23 international, but France is utterly stacked with other young forwards, and he has previously expressed USMNT interest.
