Probably just tabloid trash, but if Man U finish outside the top 4 and we look like a better situation, it's not out of the question.
The thing is, these big deals are usually done through shady deals with agents or helped along by shoe companies; I can't see us doing any of that.
From Wenger's presser today, one day before the window closes, it looks like nothing will happen: In particular he talked about RB... * He has so many choices there, that he's willing to let Jenkinson go. Though I suspect Carl isn't exactly thrilled to part with his boyhood/family club and go to Palace! * Debuchy could still go in theory, but there's no real action. And clearly AW still rates him for the RB rotation saying "he's fully fit you know now". I guess he could be our #2 RB, but who the hell knows... when was the last time he featured??? My concern is that, unless Debuchy somehow returns to his peak form from a few years ago, or unless Jenko magically comes good, then we've got a sizable drop-off after Bellerin, when he's unable to play. And IMHO, a bigger drop-off that we have at LB. But maybe having AMN & Gabriel as stop-gaps, also gives Wenger confidence? I dunno, but I still don't see those 2 guys as natural starting RB's, but maybe that's why I'm not the manager. And happy for that!!
Not an unreasonable response - the January window is used to plug short term holes. Our squad needs are more long term: New LB, another midfield controller (yikes!), and need to start rebuilding one of the older attacks in the league.
i wouldn't hate on a stopgap RB. especially if we vacate no. 2 and 25. not an immediate help there but i wouldn't mind seeing maitland-niles sent out to play this role for a year. preferably in the championship.
I think that if we're going to loan people anywhere it should be France. Germany second. The French league seems to translate the most quickly to the PL.
if he was going to start, i'd be all for it. my fear is our (lack of) planning will have him with a team that is not a fit (see: gnabry) and he is wasted on someone's bench for a year. if he isn't going to start, i'd be rather him to get week in and week out game time in the championship.
Two loan deals completed in the past 24 hours. Chuba Akpom will go out on loan to Brighton for the rest of the season. If he can help them win the Championship, that would be time well spent! Also, someone named Ismael Bennacer (I'm not familiar at all) is being loaned to Tours FC in the French Ligue 2. http://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/fo...e-Rooney-Man-United-Chelsea-Jonathan-Biabiany
Also, Gideon Zelalem going on loan to VVV Venmo in the Dutch 2nd league for the rest of the season. http://www.espnfc.us/story/3050101/...dion-zelalem-completes-loan-move-to-vvv-venlo
Bennacer is still here... colour me surprised. Good loan move for Akpom, Zelalem needs some power he should get on that juice.
this team never had an major holes imo. This season was all about Wengers poor rotation habits and poor tactical setups. he didn't use what he had properly. on to the next one...
I wonder if we could get Aguero. He seems likely to leave City. If he's not wanted by Bayern, Barca, or Real, you'd figure we're at least as likely as anybody else.
