he he he... my kids won't get their set until near the end of summer. it is a reward for them completing our summer reading program.
A monster has been created. I have gotten two other football buddies and their kids hooked. Just received a 2012 Spurs set in the mail yesterday. We have a small collection: 2012 Man U home 2012 Sheffield Wednesday home 2012 Celtic home 2012 Spurs home *Arsenal home Love to see some of your links on here for ordering teams... *Arsenal was supposed to be 2012 but it isn't. Picture on the site I ordered it from was deceiving.
I don't usually order teams, I like to paint. But when I do order, I use Paul @ http://www.tablesoccerusa.com/ Where in TN are you? Trying to get something going between Huntsville, Chatty and Nashville. Have a couple of guys in B'ham as well.
Where do you get your teams from? Send me a PM and maybe I can come to you. No one to play within 2 hours of me.
Just getting started in this game. Got a nice board set up, but with an old, stretched out from years of use, basic pitch. We have the following teams so far: 1997-98 Spurs home Early 90s West Ham home/cup 1986 N. Ireland World Cup the regular "red" and "blue" teams and a Villa set that looks a lot like West Ham Anyway, here's a couple of photos of our setup: I call it a "board" and not a table because we opted to not put legs on it or anything so that we can transport it and put it on a level table wherever we take it (not that it's light, it's heavy as balls). Also, as you can see, we have put down a layer of felt on the surface. We were thinking about stenciling out the lines and painting them directly onto the felt that way we don't have to worry about any bumps, stretching, or whatever else and we'll save a pretty penny on buying a new astropitch. Does anyone have experience with this or is it generally frowned upon and/or ineffective?
Check out the tablesoccerusa site or check ebay for astropitches. Best surface for playing, lines, etc. Also if you can find a wood called Trupan or Ultralite MDF- that's the stuff to use. Hard to find, but worth every penny if you move your pitch around. You're not too far from Mike in Michigan and Steve in Cincy. Might be a few others in the area too.
We'll probably do a second board within the next 6 months or so and go for Ultralite MDF. This one is actually an antique 1930s engineers drafting table that I found in the basement of my 100 year old house. We've ordered two iBase Storm sets from tablesoccerusa and have communicated with Paul regarding some questions and stuff. Still not sure what the best bet is for the astropitches. Looks like there are some knockoff brands (Table Master or something like that?) that make comparable quality astropitches for a fair amount less.
I got mine off ebay for less than $40. I need to get some games, been over 2 years since I've played.
Well hello Cleveland. Just up the road. Watch for news of a May 25 date in Detroit, still putting the logistics together. Normally we play in Grand Rapids about 2 hours west.
Just want to remind people that there is a fb group that gets a lot more activity. Also, our guy in Cincy has moved to the Mistake on the Lake, Cleveland for those that don't know the old joke. Steve L - https://www.facebook.com/groups/Americansubbuteo/
I'll have to get mine set up so I can actually learn what the heck to do. haha. I've never really played anyone! My wife once, but she doesn't exactly love it.
Same for my wife. Having a son helped When we moved to Connecticut I just happened to stumble upon the local guy(s) playing. In a couple of years we had 10-12 playing fairly regularly.
