Here's a link to full results from all of the tournament matches. It seems to be updated regularly too: http://www.sportstats.com/soccer/world/slovakia-cup/ The Czech Republic won both of their group play matches as well (3-0 v Ukraine and 2-0 v Kazakhstan), but I think a draw would see the United States through to the final on goal differential. In the final, it seems likely that Slovakia or Azerbaijan would await the winner of the US's group.
David Blaine or @BlaineFerri? 🧐😱 This U-19 #USMNT free kick vs. Ukraine will make you believe in magic. pic.twitter.com/VaPfKaFSPZ— U.S. Soccer YNT (@USYNT) May 9, 2018
The USA got beat pretty handily by the Czech Republic, 3-1. That means they’ll play Azerbaijan in the 3rd place playoff.
This is the same kind of stuff Ferri did with the U17s. He can strike a good left-footed ball. That, and his pedigree, are presumably enough to get him opportunities with pro clubs now if he wants them.
I wonder if you can Airbnb that house or any of the myriad other houses right by soccer fields in Europe that host tournaments. That would be kinda cool to just go to some rando small town in Europe and just chill and look out your window and watch a USYNT. #NewBucketListItem
You'd fly all the way to East Slobbovia to follow a YNT and then ... not walk 20 feet across the street to watch the game in the stadium?
This YouTube account has been posting Czech Republic highlights from this tournament, so maybe we'll see ours before too long. https://www.youtube.com/user/ceskarepre/videos
#15 bullied for two goals. Other CB didn't help him out much on either goal. CM is missing in action helping out defensively. Left-sided full-back overcommits leading to goal #2. Right-sided full-back doesn't track the run across the box on goal #1. US goal was an own goal after some nice combination play between Booth and the right-sided full-back.
Apparently Soto had a pair of goals in the win over Azerbaijan: A @Sebastian9Soto brace powered the U-19 #USMNT to a 3-0 victory vs. Azerbaijan. The young Yanks finish in third place at the Slovakia Cup with a 3-0-1 record. pic.twitter.com/GvGQmjNNOs— U.S. Soccer YNT (@USYNT) May 11, 2018
And picked up a Golden Boot to boot : Big ups to @Sebastian9Soto for taking home the Golden Boot at the Slovakia Cup with five goals. pic.twitter.com/Fp8KAlzVID— U.S. Soccer YNT (@USYNT) May 11, 2018
Kid better start playing for the monarchs or my head is going to explode. If Sargent/Weah didn't exist, he would've started for the U17s and probably scored a boatload of goals there, too. He has 42 goals in 25 games for the RSL U19s, and now this. He hasn't played a level that could stop him in forever. Needs a USL contract, stat.
Congratulations to RSL academy standout Sebastian Soto who won the Golden Boot at the Slovakia Cup for the U.S. U-19 team with 5 goals. He's currently the leading scorer in the @ussoccer_acad this year with a ridiculous 42 goals in 25 games.— Brian Sciaretta (@BrianSciaretta) May 11, 2018
Fixed your post. If he's going to stay with RSL, he has earned a first team contract. How long it takes him to get to the first team is another story, but it shouldn't take long. He's well beyond the U-19 level, and translating that over to international play, he might be a prolific goal-scorer, regardless of level of play.
Any more details? For Monarchs deals? I'd think it'd have to be since their first-team roster is currently full. Last I heard about Soto was that he wanted to go to college, which isn't the level he needs.
Ledezma has signed a Nike deal, so college is out. He'll turn 18 in September. I believe the Monarchs have offered both, but neither signed.
