Busio has very recently been making the bench for SKC, at least during the international break. Is Bello healthy? He has not played for ATL 2 in quite some time. I'd be surprised to see any of them with the U20s.
So I just watched the Brazil match from the Nike Friendlies. Not sure if I ever saw that one. Tbh, I’m not sure he’s better than Fuentes (Perez?), and I think they’re both worse than Nyeman. Of course, it’s easy to say that when Nyeman is playing Eintracht Frankfort and Baltimore Armada and Fuentes and Busio are playing the Brazil U17s team. But there are some common sense decisions that Busio should make and he just doesn’t. Fuentes (Perez?) is just far more dynamic and active. Tbh, it looks like Nyeman is going to be way better than both of them, if he isn’t already.
If I remember correctly from a game a few weeks ago Gibran Rayo is an exciting prospect. Tons of pace and skill.
George Bello: The homegrown hasn’t featured with the reserves recently as he’s dealt with an injury and split some time with the academy. Donnelly said they don’t want to rush him back until he’s fully ready.
Here's a nice photo of our U18s in Kansas City. Of note: Southend United's Charlie Kelman (#20), Napoli's Sal Esposito (#11), and FC Dallas and former Mexico YNT Julian Hinojosa (#17) and Gibran Rayo (#19).
After the US just got Hinojosa and Rayo back from Mexico's U18s, now Julian Vazquez has accepted a callup to the latest Mexico U18 camp. Vazquez has had 4 goals in the U16/U17 DA Playoffs, tied for second-most behind '02 USYNT star forward Alfonso Ocampo-Chavez. #U18 | Head coach, Marcos Ayala, has called his roster to Training Camp ahead of the 2018 Niigata Tournament in 🇯🇵.#NadaNosDetiene pic.twitter.com/h0dOFS93ic— Mexican National Team (@miseleccionmxEN) June 29, 2018
'01 best 23 IMO: GK: Shakes, Defreitas-Hansen, Travasos DF: MacDonald, Hoffman, Martinez, Hilton, Araujo, Akanyirige, Toledo, Malone MF: Otasowie, Haak, Booth, Tessman, Duke, Roberts, Palomino, de la Fuente, Llanez FW: Stojanovic, Butler, Reynolds Shakes Hoffman-Araujo-Akanyirige-Hilton Booth-Tessman Roberts de la Fuente-Stojanovic-Llanez I think '01 has great depth. You could basically name two 23's with good players. GK: Ochoa, Rando, Kowalczyk DF: Hinajosa, Sessock, Benalcazar, Ibarra, Sepulveda, Campbell, J. Burns, K. Rad MF: Vint, Clark, Sunderland, Vassilev, Arriaga, Harper, Payne, Picazo, Viximar FW: Diaz, Conway, Taylor Alternates: Chavero, Olmos, Lopez, Suzuki, J. Rad, Pellegrino, Fisher, T. Burns, Beck, Gonzalez, Vargas, Soto, Anderson, Ortiz, Hoppe Ochoa Hinajosa-Campbell-Sepulveda-Sessock Vint-Sunderland Arriaga Viximar-Diaz-Picazo If we can just see some of these high-end players (de la Fuente, Booth, Araujo, Akanyirige, Llanez, Stojanovic) turn into real elite level players, maybe this year could turn out pretty good. I like the depth, I only question whether this year has the high-end talent that other years like '97, '98 and '00 have. But this year is right now looking better than '99 did two years ago.
Our 2021 U20 cycle -- these '01s plus the cream of the crop of '02 (Las, Bello, Scally, Reyna, Pynadath, Serrano, Ocampo-Chavez, etc.), '03 (Nyeman, Cuevas), and possibly '04 (Rotundo, Toure) -- is going to be loaded
My current U20 future cycle ranking: The next one The next next one The one after that [TIE] the following two Stay tuned, will update next week.
I notice you mention Hilton in defense. What has he been up? Do we know if he's actually playing somewhere and at what level?
I don't exactly know. I think he's playing for some affiliate team of Ajax. Probably waiting until he turns 18 to sign with Ajax. He played in a tournament for his age group in June of last year, and I was relatively impressed. Maybe not what he was advertised as years ago, but I thought he showed good potential. Could his game have declined in the last year? Maybe so, but its youth level anyway, so if he's called in and can't hack it anymore with the best players in his age group, don't call him in the next time.
The USA U18 side will be taking part at the Memorial Vaclava Jezka tournament in the Czech Republic from August 21st to August 25th. As far as I can tell the teams are... Czech Republic Bulgaria UAE USA https://repre.fotbal.cz/nominace-u18-na-pripravny-kemp-a-memorial-vaclava-jezka/a8272 I cannot remember exactly off the top of my head, but I think there are two groups of four.
This seems to be a pretty regular appointment for the USYNT. The '99 group won it in 2016 with a team that included Taitague, Gonzalez, Pomykal and Scott. https://www.ussoccer.com/stories/20...016-vaclav-jezek-tournament-in-czech-republic
Looks like David Ochoa will be called up: Hearing that US U-18 GK David Ochoa has been training with Manchester United since early last week. I’ve been told he has trials planned with a few Spanish and German giants following the upcoming U-18 tournament in Czech Republic.— keith costigan (@KeithCostigan) August 8, 2018
Suggests there's a U-18 camp coming up. I don't know if this guy actually has any info. Big boy @john_pulskamp making big moves! Proud of you son!Praying you get a call by @RamosTab for the next U18 camp in a few weeks! 🤞🏼@WeAreSBX #WeAreSBX @FutureUsmnt @ussoccer_ynt pic.twitter.com/TX0xWPpNmT— Cisco Terreros (@CiscoTerreros) August 14, 2018
Well, there is the tournament in the Czech Republic that @Canadian_Supporter mentions above...........right? We are a routine participant in that.
That seems likeliest. Japan released its roster and I saw at least one '01 on it. Plus, they have a player from the F-Marinos, greatest team in all of soccer. Can't remember if we'd already seen a schedule but we must be in a bracket other than Japan's. http://www.jfa.jp/eng/national_team/u17_2018/vaclav_jezek_youth_2018/news/00018400/
And based on Japan's schedule, BTW, it seems possible we wouldn't see a roster until, say, Friday, since games may not start until Saturday. (Or, who knows. Just a guess.)
Here is a full schedule from the Czech FA. It is a doc file. https://facr.fotbal.cz/document/download/52054 Aug 21 USA vs UAE in Trutnov at 14:00 Aug 22 USA vs Bulgaria in Vrchlabi at 14:00 Aug 24 USA vs Czech Republic in Vrchlabi at 14:00 Aug 25 - placement matches All times are local.
