Plenty of stories that Trump Administration officials are doing exactly the same thing and assuring allies that what Trump says/does isn't US policy.
@Sounders78 Isnt deviants the right scientific word. As they deviate from the norm? Or is it a loaded phrase?
It's loaded, glazed, twice baked, deep fried dehumanization with a cheese sauce and compote of fundamentalism on the side. You're a smart guy,you should know this.
What russ said. Seriously, the language used in the episode is an example of heterosexism in action. Even the background music is a classic example - happy music (strings) when heterosexuality is discussed, basically a porn soundtrack when anything else is discussed.
The Democratic base turned out. Swing voters stayed home. A lot of them probably thought she would win. Remember, she got the same number of votes as Obama in 2012. Trump's victory was a fluke, a byproduct of voter fraud (denying voters their rights with voter ID law), poor Clinton campaigning, and a dozen other accidents that produced the most lopsided plurality loss/electoral college win since Hayes/Tilden.
I don't think it was illegal at all and I am sure Kerry is smart enough to make sure it was not. I would not be surprised either if that discussed with Biden or Obama's team. As he mentioned, Kissinger the "revered" foreign policy has been doing that the last 40 yrs.
At this stage, I am giving BK not more than 50% chances of ever becoming a SC Justice. The rumblings in DC are not encouraging for him. The rumblings in DC and from the WH seem to indicate that they are really concerned about the optics of Monday hearing. Republicans Fear Kavanaugh Backlash In November “Republicans are bracing for political aftershocks from the sexual assault accusation against Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh, with some expressing fear that the coming investigation will refocus the nation’s attention on an issue that could drive up the Democratic vote in the midterm elections,” the Washington Post reports. “The initial hope that the conservative Kavanaugh’s appointment would encourage turnout by grateful GOP voters this fall has been tempered by new fears that more voters, especially independent women, might head to the polls with fresh anger about Republican handling of sexual impropriety after a new round of public hearings.” Robert Costa thread is pretty informative as well. (thread) a few dynamics on Kavanaugh, based on my conversations with several top Republicans today... 1. A week is a long, long time in politics and many people involved in Sen and at WH priv. see next Mon's planned hearing as an eon away and still wonder if it'll happen...— Robert Costa (@costareports) September 18, 2018
I started to go down that same road, but realized after a couple of sentences it was the wrong term and along with the commentary in the doc, what @russ says. In my case, I was looking at it in relations to how "mutation" is understood, scientifically and non-scientifically.
At least some of this was done during the Trump admin, so running it past Biden or Obama is irrelevant. This is a nice way of putting it: "It is unusual for a former secretary of state to engage in foreign policy like this, as an actual diplomat and quasi-negotiator," Michael O’Hanlon, a foreign policy expert at the Brookings Institution, told The Globe. "Of course, former secretaries of state often remain quite engaged with foreign leaders, as they should, but it’s rarely so issue-specific, especially when they have just left office." What might keep it technically on the correct side of the law: 1) The constitutionality of the Logan Act is dubious at best. 2) He wasn't working to defeat measures/policies of the US. The official policy of the US was to support the deal with Iran, even if the admin is skeptical of it. Until that is reversed, that is the official policy. Encouraging another party to abide by the terms of the agreement doesn't officially undermine US policy. 3) If Kerry debriefed Pompeo and/or Tillerson, it's difficult for someone to argue this was done covertly.
Drain the swamp!!!! http://theweek.com/speedreads/79647...mutes-reportedly-referred-federal-prosecutors The Department of Homeland Security's inspector general has referred an internal investigation into Federal Emergency Management Agency chief Brock Long's frequent commutes to North Carolina to federal prosecutors for possible criminal charges, The Wall Street Journal reports, citing people familiar with the investigation. Long and two other FEMA employees may have broken as many as six laws by traveling from Washington, D.C., to Long's home in Hickory, North Carolina, in a caravan of government vehicles. The aides who traveled the 400 miles with Long for his long weekends at home stayed in hotels, at taxpayer expense, the inspector general's office found. Long has spent about 150 days in North Carolina since becoming FEMA administrator in June 2017, the Journal reports, and he continued his government-subsidized commute after DHS lawyers warned him it was illegal last year, prompting the inspector general's office to put him under surveillance. There are strict federal laws about use of government travel because "it's simply too tempting to use government resources for personal commuting," explains Norm Eisen, ethics lawyer for former President Barack Obama.
They're also now replaying some of the questions posed to Anita Hill. One fat Southern toad, Howell Heflin, asked "are you a scorned wumin?" "Are you a zealot civil rights believer that believes progress will be turned back if Thomas becomes a justice?" "Do you have a militant attitude when it comes to civil rights?" "Do you have a martyr complex?" "Do you wanna write a book?" Could you imagine these questions today? Fun starts around 2:00 mark https://www.c-span.org/video/?c4741933/senator-heflin-questions-professor-anita-hill
Well, it's true that he did get elected as the Republican Senator from the Great State of Israel (there is only one, not two states), and the voters have spoken, so he has just as much of a right to address Congress as any senator or congressman from any other red state.
You know better than this. Republicans are experts in running up their senate totals and having tons of senators from scarcely populated states. So you know there are at least 4 senators from Israel and Judah and probably as many as 24.
No, you're confusing senators with House seats. As far as congressional districts go, each of the 12 tribes gets a seat. As long as they are all from the Likud party.
It's worse than draining the swamp. The next person in line for the FEMA position is a friend of current DHS secretary Nielsen. This is probably only this big a story during a hurricane because of Nielsen and her preference for her friend to be in charge of FEMA. On a related note. The way that members of the Trump Admin have tried to not move to DC despite holding important offices is staggering. It is public service for a reason.
Because the treaty sets the necessary preconditions to build greater global for further economic sanctions if Iran were to violate the terms of the treaty. This is the best tool we have for a non-nuclear Iran. Strategic missile strikes won't cut it. A massive invasion would. Good luck with that. It would be Iraq, Afghanistan and Vietnam rolled into one. Mountains everywhere and a Persian defense that is designed to swarm larger forces with smaller and more nimble units to extract the maximum number of casualties quickly. This would be a war of attrition in terms of casualties and economic cost that we haven't seen since WWII. Except Iran isn't a threat to occupy our most critical allies and even if we managed to force the government to capitulate, there's no clear exit as in WWII. It would be indefinite guerilla warfare.
Are left handed people deviants? Here is what Oxford says (yes I know quoting a dictionary is racist imperialism). https://en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/deviant adjective Departing from usual or accepted standards, especially in social or sexual behaviour. noun A deviant person or thing. The example they gave for noun does seem to indicate it is a very loaded term. ‘killers, deviants, and those whose actions are beyond most human comprehension’ Here is webster https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/deviant someone or something that deviates from a norm especially : a person who differs markedly (as in social adjustment or behavior) from what is considered normal or acceptable The acceptable part is what makes it loaded I imagine.
