Continued from here. New game - how many Scaramuccis does this one last for? As you were. Rep @raza_rebel for the thread name, mostly - and @American Brummie happy?
Hells no, you closed the other one before I hit post. If they were not holding so many South Korean hostage (with their artillery and missiles) the Kims should would deserve the Gaddafi model. Unfortunately it is unrealistic, so they can keep doing to the North Korean citizens all the shit they do to them, and the world will just keep looking the other way.
First we boost Russian oil prices over the Iran Nuclear Agreement, now China is buying record number of Soybeans from Russia. #MRGA! bloomberglink
Serious question: When has an American President said of a foreign leader, "If he doesn't reach a deal with me, I will kill him?"
“The Libyan model isn’t a model that we have at all,” Trump told reporters during a photo session with the visiting secretary general of NATO. “We decimated that country.” By contrast, if the U.S. reaches a deal with North Korea, Kim will “get protections that would be very strong,” Trump said. “He will have very adequate protection.” In some part of the afterlife, Neville Chamberlain is like, Jesus ********ing Christ, I wasn't that bad, and I was facing Hitler. HITLER!
A lawyer, a spy, a mob boss, and a money launderer walk into a bar. The bartender says: "You guys must be here to talk about adoption."
People keep trying to convince me American democracy is alive and well. I still don't believe them. That corpse is getting cooler every day.
Well...........The net is tightening... The former son-in-law of Paul Manafort has cut a plea deal with the Justice Department that requires him to cooperate with other criminal probes, two people with knowledge of the matter tell Reuters. https://t.co/ydLrsuMtjk— Kyle Griffin (@kylegriffin1) May 17, 2018
The only possible way you can say this and be consistent with history is to think that America never had a democracy at all.
Then you don't know anything about history. How can the mere downgrading of a cabinet post, which may or may not any effect on actual hackability of state voting machines possibly compare to actual vote tampering or actual voter roll tampering, which have actually taken place multiple times in our history? Do you know anything about machine politics, or that parties used to hand out pre-filled ballots to voters? Or the constant voter disfranchisements of various populations? And for its first four score and nine years, this nation not only prevented slaves from voting, but gave their (partial) votes to their owners. That is democracy to you? Of all the current threats to democracy, Russian vote tampering isn't even on the list. And if it were to ever take place, it would be easily fixable because there would be actual political will to combat it.
Really? There would be actual political will to combat it? Just like there is actual political will by the party in power to address the corruption and collusion by the current administration? If they benefit from it, they won't combat it.
I think we can’t see it as a YES/NO situation but more as a function of how representative it is in terms of let’s say, the average popularity of choices and the quality of decisions for percentages of population. If you look at it that way, you would see the obvious imperfections of our system since 1776, and despite its up and downs, a more or less steady progression to be more representative. IMHO, that progression stopped with Citizens United and crashed to its lowest representativeness in decades during last elections and could go to almost pre-Revolution levels in things don’t go well in November.
Yes there would be, especially as the people leading it would be at the state and county levels - the people actually attacked. And people are always more wary of attacks from the outside than corruption from within.
Only yesterday we were being told teh libz were co-opting this Boltonian talking point But sodomy in a ditch appears to be the official USG position
In reality, Trump got played so now will lie about it as usual This is of course why the previous admins would not agree to a summit without stuff on the table Trump was duped and duped again into his Kim summit. He's now faced with a choice of admitting he was punked - or covering his initial error by trying to punk the country. I'm guessing he'll choose the latter. Me in @TheAtlantic today https://t.co/Rj05MGj7MG— David Frum (@davidfrum) May 17, 2018
Really a very nice analysis from Frum I feel the media did a very bad job of reporting this. Lot's of people warned this was stupid! They offered to close down their ruined testing site while Pompeo demands they point those nukes some place else But seriously since the Nukes are not on the table, what can the US get to justify all this? So ironically drumpf will probably end up bribing them for nothing concrete What is of course a shame, is that now NOKO is a nuclear power (lets face it, this happened years ago) there are valid reasons to get on the path to normalisation.
