I think there is also always the compared to what factor At the moment there is only Trump, and Clinton disappearing in the rear view mirror If Trump were to be challenged by Haley and Pence for example, we would swiftly see serious inroads Ditto if the dems can find a good centre candidate we might find people abandon trump - but at the moment he's the only president wingnutville has
Have any of them led on this? So far Josh is the only one I saw who mentioned it, but I haven't been online much today Josh is all over it https://talkingpointsmemo.com/edblo...rump-repeatedly-lied-about-his-trip-to-moscow
@soccernutter Here is a good example of the NYT uncritically reporting Trump's lies But even I can remember this is directly contradicted by Keith Schiller's testimony https://www.nytimes.com/2018/04/20/us/politics/comey-memos-takeaways.html compare with https://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-new...n-offered-trump-women-was-turned-down-n819386 Others have also pointed out that trump's claim is also contradicted by his own tweets
They are contemporaneous memos of interaction between POTUS and DIRFBI What other evidence do you have apart from Trump's absurd TV appearance?
I don't know what else he has as far as obstruction goes, but contemporaneous memos from the fired party are about as hot as it gets in terms of intention - especially seeing it seems Trump failed to create his own paper trail This is why us legal types get taught to write letters to the judge For instance in contract situations, when we have even a suspicion of ulterior motive our firm writes letters to the judge because that correspondence will count far more as to what everyone was thinking than what was written after things blew up
That's exactly my point. Somebody will find it. Huh? You seem to want the NYT to use a lead with 72 point font saying "Lies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" That was not the point of the article. It was about how Comey's memos contradicted what the President said, and the inference is all on the reader. It actually reads as if the author is assuming that the reader knows what 45 says is a lie, or at last contradictory. This paper is the NYTimes, not the USA Today. And TBH, I don't know why you have your knickers in a twist over this (and tagged me about it). This response reads like you think blunt force trauma is the only way to go, and that death by a 1000 cuts does not kill somebody.
This is all very straw man The point is, that obvious lies are revealed - contradicted by Schiller and Trumps own contemporaneous tweets Yet mere "bloggers" and "twitters" were quick to point this out as the big papers practiced stenography journalism How hard would it have been for NYT to include the obvious rebuttal?
I was in a conversation last night and the general opinion was not about liberal or middle of the road, it was about somebody who will calmly call out 45's lies on the spot, and have some charisma.
Well yeah Any written & time stamped record that indicates your thinking My business partner will come off a call and send me a contemporaneous Gmail setting out all his suspicions, precisely so they are time stamped. Then if people want to say oh your intention was X, he will say - well wait a minute - what about these emails where i discussed my thinking in depth with my colleagues?
in NZ we despaired of ever voting out the righties - then Jacinda became leader of the opposition and within weeks we won the election Authenticity is the killer app
I think the media discounts just how vulnerable Trump is to a Palace coup he's the weakest POTUS ever, propped up by an evil Congress. If he loses the support of Congress, he is well screwed IMO
Your friday nite news dump At least Tillerson actually served at Exxon CIA has now confirmed publicly that Pompeo did NOT serve in the Gulf War. Any examples of Pompeo saying or even suggesting otherwise over the years would be of extreme interest to Members of Congress set to vote on his nomination next week. While there is certainly a difference between serving in a war zone and serving stateside, the CIA did say that Pompeo served during the Gulf War, but he was not IN the Gulf War. Pompeo plumping up his resume to claim he served in the Gulf War is definitely a bad thing, but we shouldn't exaggerate it the other direction to say he didn't serve at all..
That is what I'm getting at. 45 is in no way authentic (edit - except to the White Nationalists). The right person needs to come along and point that out to the middle, not the 35%-37% die hards. And, if he survives to 2020, the media will be pounding him all over the place, and he will melt down multiple times. Nope. Same issue with Clinton. She has a vagina. Now, if the two candidates are both women - Haley v. Harris for example - that will interesting.
