What's that quote from Modern Family?

"Golf, that's a sport for old men and for women who like women", or something like that. Pretty much dead on!

Sure, Trump could be The Rebel by doing so, but Betwixt and Between all of the madness, it would be a (Myth of) Sisyphean task and could bring The Plague to The Stranger.

Perhaps, it would precipitate The Fall and then the Exile (and the Kingdom) for Trump.

The way Trump Trudeau and the other Canadians on the radio were "gushing" over this agreement, how about :

    Canada
    United States
    Mexico
    Solidarity

North America C.U.M.S. for this agreement.

It’s mostly water related, but the over-regulated environment makes it extremely difficult to do much more than get by.

Wonderful is thriving but that’s because they control most of the water in the Southern Valley.

BTW, the Nunez article is excellent. That is some great investigative reporting.

A lot of it has to do with wanting to punish farmers because the San Joaquin Valley is one the last fairly strong repub enclaves in the state. There are a couple of great documentaries on the issue — don’t have the links handy, but I’ll post them later.

    Gosh, I'm sorry!

The only reason to go near Bakersfield was to desert ride motorbikes in winter.

Except, it is not a sport at all.
It is an elitest, classist, racist, expensive leisure time activity that non-athletes try to claim is a sport.
It is a game of skill, strategy and endurance, for sure, but it is not a sport, any more than chess is a sport or darts are a sport.

The only reason to go to Bakersfield is to stop for gas on the way to/from Death Valley or the Mojave Desert.

The water issues in the Central Valley are infuriating. The water table has been completely overdrained and many of the farming practices seem to assume that they are growing crops/fruit in a monsoon climate. They're not:- it's a desert.

I refuse to call anything west of KC “Midwest”. The Plains are having issues...probably because the area isn’t as conducive to large scale commercial livestock as people like to believe. OH, IN, IL, MI, WI, MN, IA, MO... no real issues with water. Summer droughts? Sure. But the water table is quite near the surface.

Hell, my grass hasn’t been brown for any stretch of time in the 5 years we have lived in our house and we haven’t watered our lawn once. If anything, the MW seems more wet now than 20-30 years ago.

Water needed for lb of rice: 300 gallons
Water needed for lb of beef: 1850 gallons

If you can grow it or raise it someplace else, it probably shouldn’t be grown/raised in CA.

Speaking of the Midwest, this writer went to Devin Nunes family dairy farm in northern Iowa (where almost all the workers are illegal). They moved it out of California over a decade ago and are now in Steve King's district. He wasn't greeted warmly by the Nunes'

This may be the outdoors part of me talking, but I never understood why people try to grow grass in the desert. I get missing green and all that but there's several other states that are warm and agreeable. Along with a low cost of living. But then again, that makes sense.

Growing grass / crops / livestock in arid / semi-arid is human arrogance made manifest through science & engineering.

Same with building habitation over and above the carrying capacity of a region. This equally works for both sprawl loving developers and dazzling urbanist vegans.

Or to boil it all down, it's the mentality of Colonization

    The internet is beautiful man.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news...rnias-pot-growers-use/?utm_term=.eb63551f172d

Short answer: 1.4 ft-acre of water, which is less than grapes for wine, about the same as almonds, but only half as much as alfalfa, which is what is fed to cattle.

Solution: feed the cows weed. They'll get hungry, but will eat anything you put in front of them at that point. Side benefit: those damn Burners will smoke the hell out of cannabis infused cow pies. Sell them all the cow shit.
