Wonder what % of Republicans still holds the Dubya-era philosophy of "if you're not doing anything wrong then surveillance shouldn't bother you"? Don Cheeto and his gang have patriotic 'Mericans brains all scrambled. He's doing everything wrong & getting caught but nothing's his fault - it's the big, bad IC.
Yeah, I guess so. But most of them have systems where you're covered, don't they. In the states it is possible to NOT have cover. Something that I'm not sure is possible in most other developed states.
I doubt many cover their policyholders abroad though. In fact, I suspect that US may be something of an outlier in this, in that some insurance policies do cover you worldwide.
It is very clear that whenever you hear a number/quantity/statistic come from the mouth of a Trump, you have to discount it by a great amount to get it near the parking lot of the ball park. I don't know who would want to do business with them other than those who are playing a bigger game than simple returns on real estate investments.
I will present two reasons as possibilities, one more serious than the other. First, Americans don’t travel abroad as much or for as long. Second, and more seriously, the cost is far less in other countries than in the US. My appendectomy was about $85,000 while two years later (2016) my student had to have one in New Zealand and the bills totalled US$5,000. If you are a global nomad and buy insurance, the cost of it will instantly double if you set one foot in the US during the year. So it can hypothetically save the American insurance provider a lot of money if you get sick overseas instead of in the US.
Hmmm... that's an interesting thought. After my double bypass I asked how much they costed it in at, (just out of interest). They said about it was somewhere between £15-18k depending on any complications and any additional time in hospital, if needed.
First... Americans probably travel more than any other population. Second, I doubt your appendectomy cost you $85,000.
haha, Navarro was on CNBC yesterday talking about how the instincts of President Donald J Trump are spot on when it comes to the economy and Fed Policy. Spot on, I tell you! All he needs is his gut.
Nope. That goes to Europeans. Americans make a ton of domestic trips, but we’re pretty far down the list of globe trotters. https://www.worldatlas.com/articles/countries-whose-citizens-travel-the-most.html
Kiwis & Ozzies have long known we are far above the US on this list! % of citizens holding a passport is a good proxy The US has come up a lot since the 90s Geography obviously has a lot to do with it. NZ is a small island nation, so we travel as a rite of passage. But also we are far from everywhere. The scandos travel a lot to each others countries - e.g. the infrastructure linkage between Copenhagen and Malmo
Anyone who doubts that Ozzies are #1 in globe-trotters has never traveled. Currently on the tube and I guarantee you that 30% of the passengers are from Brisbane.
Drumpf weaker than ever He can be pushed around like a child White House signals it will back down on President Trump's demand for border wall funding and avert a partial government shutdown https://t.co/eMM5Eh0EhD— The Washington Post (@washingtonpost) December 18, 2018
https://www.cnn.com/2018/12/18/poli...ter-of-intent-rudy-giuliani-moscow/index.html On Sunday Giuliani said that Trump never signed a letter of intent to build Trump Tower Moscow. Today that statement is inoperative.
On the one hand, I feel bad for Giuliani. He's an obviously unqualified moron who's being asked to advocate without any facts for a patently criminal enterprise. On the other hand, he ruined so many thousands of lives as mayor that I will never hope for anything but suffering and pain.
My Kiwi daughter did her travel after collage. Lived with a houseful of other Kiwis in London and got a job teaching at Prince Charlie's old school in Slone Sq. Some of her pupils where Bob Gieldorf's son. Chris Reeves son. The Prince of Bruni's son. Half the class would show up in limos, complete with bodyguards. Field trips meant bodyguards as well. A great year for her and her friends culminating in a grand tour of Europe. Yeah, travel for a kiwi is a must. Right now she's teaching in China.
The man was US Attorney for SDNY! In 1983, Giuliani was appointed U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York, which was technically a demotion but was sought by Giuliani because of his desire to personally litigate cases. It was in this position that he first gained national prominence by prosecuting numerous high-profile cases, resulting in the convictions of Wall Street figures Ivan Boesky and Michael Milken. He also focused on prosecuting drug dealers, organized crime, and corruption in government.[25] He amassed a record of 4,152 convictions and 25 reversals. As a federal prosecutor, Giuliani was credited with bringing the "perp walk", parading of suspects in front of the previously alerted media, into common use as a prosecutorial tool.[35] After Giuliani "patented the perp walk", the tool was used by increasing numbers of prosecutors nationwide.[36]
